These seem like ok quality but my cat absolutely hated them. It turned out she would rather hurt herself by biting off her own nails to get these off than wear them. If you know your cat will tolerate this kind of thing, these might be an ok option for you. They came with plenty of glue, which worked well, and were fairly easy to cut down to the correct size. They just did not turn out to be a safe option for my cat.
We planned to use these on our 14 week old kitten. The size chart was correct - these appear to fit him perfectly. Because of the size (certainly not the fault of the seller), they were a bit hard to get the glue into. That was expected and no problem. Getting into the package to get the nail caps was a major struggle, though. I never could get the package open and finally had to cut it open - which mean that I had to be careful since all 100 caps were loose inside the bag. I sealed the unused caps in a snack bag. I tested one of the tubes of glue that came with it, and I found that what I had been told by others was correct - the glue that comes with the package was very watery. I don't know how I could possibly re-seal the bottle. Instead, I bought and used another brand of glue and that worked well, as my friends had told me. On the positive side, once I got the caps in place, the kitten did not seem to mind them at all, and they do look attractive. Still, because of difficulty accessing the caps and because of the difficulty in using the supplied glue, I can only rate this product as "okay."
Great idea in theory. My cat is super chill and had no problem with the application and let me do it. I wasn't crazy about dealing with the super nail glue, but I get why it's a thing. My cat, being who he is, has medical grade sharp ass claws. Seriously, you barely feel them pierce your skin. This is problematic bc he's sooo affectionate and makes the biscuits on you. These caps were perfect for that, but being that his nails are so sharp, they went right through within a couple of days. He was then obsessed with chewing them off. My hubs ended up getting a pet nail grinder and that's been great so far. So... These work, but how well depends on your cat. I won't do it again as I hate watching him chewing them off with that glue...can't be good for him.
With two people, they’re easy to put on. One person holds the cat, the other puts the glue in the cap and then puts it on their nails.
When I tried to do this on my own, it was difficult! My cat doesn’t like anyone touching her paws, let alone gluing anything onto her nails... but alas they were put on. And while they work really well while they’re on (she couldn’t scratch any furniture or carpet! Yes!) they unfortunately only last a week and a half before they all started randomly falling off.
Of course this isn’t a permanent solution but it’s definitely a decent temporary solution!
They’re a hassle to put on every other week but they save our furniture.
I order size small and xsmall to accommodate my kitten and full-grown cats. Should have just ordered the xsmall because they're large enough for my full-grown cats. My full grown cat, Grace, doesn't mind them at all and hasn't been walking funny or anything whereas my kitten, who I recently took in while he was feral, walks funny and keeps licking them trying to get them off. So far he managed to get them off the same toe twice. Time will tell if it's just that toe and my error in application method. I took off 2 stars because there's no way that there were 100 pieces in the packaging for either of the orders that I placed. Keep that in mind.
My cat absolutely hated the application process. She screamed, fought, and started to breathe extremely hard as if she was in pain. All i was doing was simply gently sliding the caps on her nails. I read another person’s review that said the glue burns, and i hope this isn't the reason she was acting so crazy but it may very well be. With that being said, it was an extremely difficult process, cat wise. The application PROCESS is easy (cut to size if necessary, glue, slide on), HOWEVER, putting these on a cat is extremely difficult. It was even difficult when i had my boyfriend holding her while i placed the caps on, so i cant imagine someone trying to do this alone. Lastly, the caps MIGHT come off quickly. I felt as though i put too much glue in hers, but apparently i did not. She has had them on for two days and she has lost 4 caps. I dont know if she is biting them off, or if they are falling off. I have have a fairly small apartment with white carpet, so it would be easy to find them if when they come off. However, they are no where to be found. I hope she isn't biting them off and swallowing them.
Definitely a two person job! I ordered the XS, I only had to trim a couple of the caps. Other than that they fit perfectly. Be sure to read the directions. You don’t have to trim your kitten’s nails. I’m giving this product 3 stars because first and foremost, I do not like the glue or the pink tips they include. It made the job super messy. Now I don’t even use the pink tips, because first, they’re absolutely useless; second, they don’t even stay/screw on to the tube of glue; and third, it made a huge mess all over my hands after taking the pink tip that had leftover glue that didn’t go back in the tube of glue! For some reason all of the caps on kitty’s left paw stayed on for the longest time. I just replaced the cap on his left dew claw. Now his right paw is a different story. I replaced one within the same night I put it on, another one the next day, then another one a week or so later and another one just a couple of days ago. We really had to watch him to make sure he didn’t lick or try to chew the caps off at first, but eventually he got used to them and he’s not even phased by them anymore. I’ve only been putting them on his front paws, but I’ve been thinking about putting them on his back claws because he loves to grab on to his sister’s (18 month old Bernese mountain dog) face or legs and kicks at her with his back paws.
I love these caps. Definitely a better alternative to declawing. I just wish the glue was a bit better and not as messy.
I work as a veterinary technician so I have worked with the name brand before so I have something to compare them to. I just brought home a 3 month old kitten and wanted a variety of colors( figured they would be fun for my 4 and 1 year old). Although I ordered an XS they were quite large and I had to cut them down to fit properly, which is why I’m giving a 3 star on easy to use. I also have to frequently reapply them because some only last a couple days before I find them laying on my floor. I may buy them again for the price but overall they are what you pay for. They are cheap and the moldings are inconsistent, glue is mediocre.
It does keep your cat from scratching you. but it is superglue that your using on your cats nails and honestly i think it hurts them.. not just uncomfortable for them but i think it pulls on their hair and skin too much idk i won't be buying this again i would rather get scratched up then do this to my cat again and also it took forever to come off not cool
My cat scratches everything and we just purchased new furniture so I wanted to try these to see if it'd help deter her from scratching. They were affordable and arrived quickly.
I love the color options and how easy they were to apply. My cat wasn't so happy during the application process and walked funny for about an hour after application but she eventually got used to them.
I was disappointed to find that they began falling off after 2 days though and needed to be replaced. Adhesion could definitely be improved.
Aside from that, it did stop her from scratching the couch so thats a plus.
