This was a total waste of money. I bought the guacamole keeper. It's supposed to keep your guacamole fresh and green for days because the lid is designed to pull out air as you push the lid down. I made sure I read the instructions thoroughly, but... no joy. My guacamole turned that ugly dark color in a matter of just a few hours. The product is GARBAGE.
This jar is way too big to store guacamole in an air tight fashion (unless you are making large batches). For me, I typically make guacamole using 1-2 avocados so there was just way too much room left for oxidization. The fact that it's plastic leaves a lot to be desired as well. The search continues!
As in several other reviews I read I agree that this may be a good idea in theory but in practical use this product has to many flaws that still do not solve the issue of the Guac turning bad in just a few hours. No matter how hard you push down there are to many air pockets that create bad areas and if you press down too hard the guac squeezes past the seal which destroys the products ability to preserve the guac as well. Just too many issues to deal with. It is easier to buy the small single serving plastic containers and not have to worry about it spoiling. So don't waste your time and money on this like I did.
Guac with lemon isn't brown the next day when I store it in a glass tupperware container, but it was solid brown when I stored it in this so called guacamole dish. The container is also huge, much bigger than it should be for a dip container, more the size of a main entree. ANyways this piece of junk is going to the goodwill, wish I hadn't ordered.
I so wanted this to work, so I bought it just before Super Bowl. And returned it on Monday. Difficult to get the lid exactly centered and if it tilts even slightly the guac mushes through. Frustrating and inefficient. Save your money.
This thing sucks. I think it’s just too big. It’s made more for like a 7-layer dip than guacamole. The container is enormous which just means more air. Then you have to press the lid down evenly to let the air out. To get best results you have to squash the guacamole making sure there are no air pockets. But then the guacamole starts coming up the sides of the lid. So you have to clean that mess and if you leave a small air pocket, that section of the guacamole will turn like mud brown in a day and half. Honestly, the plastic container that guacamole comes in works 1000x better. This is simply one of the worst products I’ve ever bought.
Those over 1,900 reviews seem to be for other airtight containers, not for the one in the picture, misleading. My guacamole turned brown after 3 days, so the item is not airtight. I just threw the brown guacamole away. I usually read the reviews before ordering things but I didn't this time, my mistake. The container was not cheap. Very disappointed either, waste of money.
I’m not a fan. If it had a sealable vent on top to get the air out the design would be great, but it doesn’t so you have to try and press the air out and when you unseal it all the guac is stuck to the lid and rubber seal. The is another manufacturer tha pt has a vent which I may try.
Way to BIG! Was looking for a container that I could keep left over guacamole in. I don’t make a vat of guacamole at a time which this is. Most people would not store this much guacamole at a time. If you were having a party and wanted to make it ahead this would work I would think.
