I am a lifelong new balance consumer and my son has been wearing new balance too for the past few years. Their sneakers are usually consistent with the fit, quality, and durability.
These sneakers are the exception. They have broken in numerous places after light use from my son in under two months. The velro part, the toebox, and the elastic laces all majorly failed. They fit perfectly so it's not like they were stressed by an improper fit.
Getting less than two months out of sneakers is unacceptable.
Purchased about 4 months ago and my son has loved them each and every day he wears them. Compared to the target brand of shoes or any other brand for that matter they have held up well too! This is a pleasant surprise as we generally go through shoes very quickly. The only complaint is that the color schemes that are available are not visually as appealing. We ended up with the gray and red since we live in STL and cheer for the Cardinals, but he would have preferred a more "kid" color like green or blue.
This shoe lasted one month exactly! I bought it 2/13/19, and the kid wore it out 2/14/19. The seams came undone at the toes and had a hole in the shoe which could not be repaired. Just to note, he does not drag his feet, has normal arches, does not walk unevenly.
I've purchased Stride Rite shoes when both of my kids first started walking and so I am used to that sizing - I ordered a size up (4) from what my daughter is currently wearing (3) and they were barely larger than the Stride Rite shoes. I sent them back and ordered a 5. Long story short, if you're used to Stride Rite sizing, you'll likely need to size up.
My 4 year old son who’s about to turn 5 has had problems with finding wide shoes, Even ones that claim to be wide. I usually buy him Nike’s but I have to get them in wide which they usually don’t sell in the store, now this year we’re trying out New Balance and ASICS For the first time both in my opinion are good shoes but I have to give it to new balance even compared to Nike's they beat them when it comes to wide feet. My son slipped his foot right in with no complaints. For quality I cannot say how long they will last but I will update should I have any problems. My son will be starting School this year so I hope these shoes could keep up with all the running and playing like his Nike’s do.🤞🏻🤞🏻
I bought 3 pairs of these shoes for my children and I am beyond disappointed by the quality. I'm pretty sure I would have been better off buying something from Walmart than these New balance. After about 6 weeks of wear, two pairs have holes in the toe area and the straps and soles of all three pairs are falling apart already. Don't waste your money on these.
