To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I'll never buy a ByAnnie pattern again, nor will I purchase any of her materials or videos. There are 2 problems with ByAnnie: 1- The pattern itself and 2- This business goes far beyond the norm of up-selling and consumer manipulation.
1) The pattern itself does not have standard information found in every other pattern, such as how to layout/cut pieces from your fabric to ensure you use the least of amount of fabric possible and that you don't cut in a way that will make cutting the next pieces impossible. I'd be ok with it if it was a pattern of only a few pieces, but there are over 20 pieces. Also, instead of simply labeling something "Piece A- bottom of bag" in either the written or visual instructions, it does not label the pieces in the instructions/visuals so you have to guess what they mean by "pocket border"- the pocket has 2 different kinds of "borders".
You also need to guess what the actual bag looks like on the back and inside. There are no pictures to figure out what pieces they are referring to either (only pictures are of the front of the bag with a small section of one side showing). Actually, if you use the picture that is provided, you will be even more confused, because there are 3 fabric designs/patterns on it instead of the 2 that are referenced in the written instructions.
2- When you purchase the pattern, they do not tell you that you are (blank)-outta-luck buying some of the materials. For example, it says "Fusible Interfacing SUP179, 3x15." What the heck is that? Oh yeah. It's only sold by ByAnnie. They give you no description about the product so you can purchase similar fusible or foam inserts because they want you to purchase from ByAnnie. All other non-ByAnnie patterns will give you a comparable product (i.e., Pellon 72D) or at least a description of the product. At this point, I decided to never purchase another ByAnne pattern.
Additionally, the tutorial videos are worthless although they cost $5. Not even worth it with the $5 coupon! To only "pro" has to do with the page that provides you labels for each piece. They are small, but at least they are useful. However, they don't even spend the 2 cents it takes to provide you with a copy to cut so you can keep the original one for future use.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY & HEADACHE! BUH-BYANNIE! SHE YOU NEVER AGAIN!
This is a really fun bag to make and the small one is a great bag for a project bag for sewing or knitting. I made the large one also which is a great diaper bag or travel tote. Like all of By Annie patterns, it has great instructions. She truly writes well thought out patterns and makes zippers actually fun to put in and the whole bag easy to construct.
