To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I wanted to like this book a lot - the photography is gorgeous and it really looked like a promising cookbook. Plus I like Nik’s story. The problem for me is Nik’s lack of restraint. The recipes feel VERY contrived and sometimes just adding spices for the sake of it and not to actually accentuate a dish. I’m all for experimenting with spices and putting a spin on classics etc but this - for me at least (and clearly I’m in the minority) - was not the book for me. (By way of reference: Books I enjoy include those form the Ottolenghi team and the now fallen Allison Roman, so I’m not averse to flavorful food!!!). There were a couple of winners in here but not enough for me to keep the book.
