Lo recibí en tiempo y forma y en buenas condiciones, solo que el el equipo, controles y accesorios no vienen protegidos de manera individual, el empaque exterior está muy bien pero el interior deja mucho que desear, equipo funcionando.
The Atari Flashback Gold 9 gets only a fair rating in my book. I give it a 3 out of 5. The problem has nothing to do with the NES roms replacing Atari 2600 game titles, since you are able to load every single Atari 2600 game with the SD card. I'll tell you exactly what the main problem is. The main problem is the absence of paddles as well as the incompatibility of existing paddles. This console includes every Atari 2600 paddle game, even has a menu option to select paddle games but doesn't include a pair of compatible paddles in the box! Now, how lazy is that? I say compatible paddles because the original 2600 paddles don't work as well as their very own AtGames version paddles. This is pitiful because Break Out is a jewel that the Atari 2600 is well known for with fans using those unique 2600 paddles. Break Out is the game that made the Atari 2600 paddles what they are! All games using joysticks work well and all joysticks original or new seem to work well. On the other hand, AtGames screwed the paddle games. AtGames, if you are going to start something with potential, go all the way with it! Stop dancing around and just go ahead and make one great all-in-one Atari Flashback Console that includes every Atari game from the 2600, 5200 and 7800. Then make that all-in-one console compatible with all the joysticks, paddles and etc of the 2600, 5200 and 7800 or make newer compatible ones of your own brand. Then give the console the SD card slot and HDMI output. This would have made so much more sense instead of making 10 separate Flashback consoles with mixed features, outputs, inputs, accessories and games. This console could have been much greater with a little more effort. That's a huge disappointment and that's the reason it gets a 3 out of 5 from me.
I got the paddles to connect no problem. Just search the u-tube for 30 seconds and it will make sense. However, once fired up, the games themselves are pretty terrible. Two of the games did not play, they just loaded to a frozen screen. Of the 120 games on here, only 2 of them are playable - Space Invaders and Frogger. That's it. The rest is trash. Not sure if those two games are worth the $60 I paid, but, it looks cool just sitting next to my cable box.
So, I've had the item for about 20 minutes. It's a gift for my Dad (he likes Frogger), so I figured I'd try to set it up for him since the reviews state the instructions to pair the controllers don't work. I can now confirm this is true. The directions in the manual and the little sheet they give are both inaccurate or not clear. Fortunately, a YouTuber had the same issues and posted the following instructions that worked right away.
A video posted by "BigGoofyRunner & Family" gave the following instructions:
1. make sure controllers and console are turned off 2. press and hold the fire button while pushing the joystick up 3. keep holding the button and the joystick while turning on the controller - light should start flashing blue 4. once it is flashing you can let go of the button and the joystick 5. while the light is flashing, turn on the console 6. after a few seconds the light will turn blue on the controller and the controller and console will be
I grew up with Atari games. I received an Atari console for my 10th birthday. They were incredibly fun to play back then. Unfortunately, now that I'm almost 50, these games which were fun to play as a child are now much, much more challenging than I remember them being back in the early 80s. I had high hopes that I would be playing this every night after getting home from work. Sadly, my hand-eye coordination has diminished to the point where these games were no longer fun to play. I ended up returning the console to Amazon about a week after I bought it.
They fixed the controller installation problem others have reported. This was super easy to setup! But on a few of the games (like space invaders) the game will reset when the 2nd player controller is touched. Meaning they cannot be played in two player mode. Most games are fine though, so it’s a weird bug.
