To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I ordered purple, but got a maroon colored DVD player. It was completely different from what was pictured, which was a bright purple. Very disappointed. It’s too late to return because it was a birthday gift to my daughter and her birthday is today.
The seller reached out about a month later and gave me the option of either replacing or refunding me. I did opt to have a dvd sent. The black is true to color. Also, the headrest holder does not fit for a Honda Odyssey. It ripped due to being flimsy. The remote does not work and you have to adjust the volume every time you turn it back on which is inconvenient when you have the DVD player in the headrest.
I just got this today and Picture and battery life is great, I haven’t use the remote so I can’t really comment on it. The only reason I say 3 stars is because I was reading through the reviews and a lot of them say the sound is great and loud however in my case mine it’s actually the opposite, sound doesn’t get very loud even on the highest volume it still sounds pretty low and it’s actually lower than my smaller portable DVD player. So that was a really big disappointment because I went based off the reviews and was hoping it was true. Anyways everything is actually great but the volume is my only complaint and that was one of the main reason why I choose this one because a lot of the reviews says it is pretty loud. 😔
Pros: Keeps my 3 year old entertained while we travel and for that I'm very happy. The battery life is amazing and you can keep it plugged up while in the car. It starts where it left off when you power up which is a nice feature.
Cons: Remote doesn't work AT ALL. Maybe I got a dud but it's been a bit of a problem for using the player. When it gets hot from being in the car in the summer it acts funny and won't work for a while. The power button is in a difficult place to reach when it's in a head rest holder. (which is why the remote would be great if it worked.) Even if the movie is over it will still start back at the ending credits. Not a big deal but still annoying.
Its pretty good for car rides. Picture is clear. Sound is great. When you contact the company after you received your item, they'll send you 2 headphones for free. 2 issues I had: 1. The remote sensor is HORRIBLE. I still have no idea where to point it. I just move it around the bottom while pressing the button I need. 2. The car charger broke fairly easy not too long after I bought this. I didn't pull it out with force, by all means. I went to clean my car out and wanted to move it out of my way. I'm not sure if they sell chargers for it either. Haven't looked though.
Overall, I rated it a 3/5 mostly because the remote sensor is really bad. Its very annoying and frustrating. It's a cheaper alternative to entertain the kiddos in the back on long rides. I would buy it again if I was on a budget. Hope this helps
I almost returned this because my daughter is still rear facing and i can't use the remote from the drivers seat due to this. The sensoris on the top when the DVD player is folded for the car and so it just doesn't reach. But..its actually pretty good. Lasts for hours. Have gone to and from the cape with it and not needing to recharge. The picture quality is fine. Haven't had any issues besides the remote. I wish the sensor for the remote was on the front. That's all is change. The holder is good too except doesn't fit my headsets. Not sure if its because i have a new sub. So we hang it from the headrest vs.on it. Still feels sturdy.
Just received this today, I’m disappointed that it’s the wrong color but I figured whatever color isn’t that important. I tried it out, pictures seems good, volume was fine. I haven’t tried the remote but it looks kind of ridiculous. It had something stuck to the top, making me think maybe it had been used before and returned? It should wipe off fine but it’s kind of gross. Overall I hope it will work for our needs because I don’t really want to bother with sending it back. I don’t think I would order another.
The price is great, but you get what you pay for. The device seems kind of cheap, as the design is. It fantastic. The biggest issue though is that the volume does not go loud enough. If the volume went higher, this would entirely be worth the price. But the volume almost makes them unusable in the car, which is what most people use it for. On the plus side, love that the battery is recharchab and it comes with an power cord.
Update- the company reached out and sent a new dvd player. Seems to work better but we haven’t had a chance to use it as much....... Don’t spend your money in this. The remote doesn’t work and it scratches all of the dvds. It skips all the time even when not moving. They sounds isn’t loud at all so head phones need to be worn which isn’t ideal for our 2 year old. Also the battery doesn’t last near as long as they say.
The Sunpin DVD Player would've been great and gotten more stars, except there is one key feature that brought it down.
I bought the sunpin for my grandmother who is in a rehab home that has no tv's in her area. She is a big movie fanatic and has been in and out of hospitals and rehabs due to an infection acquired from surgery for almost a year and a half, so she was feeling extremely blue after not being able to see the movies she wanted to go see on the big screen.
I have a movie server and usb's so I bought the device so she could watch her NEW movies, but it turns out the device ONLY ACCEPTS .AVI files. Even after converting files to .avi they still wouldn't play.
It says no where on the post or in the pictures that it only accepts .avi files when using USB or SD cards, so I feel a bit scammed. I don't know if I'll be sending it back or not because she is actively using the device, but not able to watch the NEW movies she's missed out on.
