We have been using these teas for a while, our daughter gets quite anxious around bedtime and this really helps her go to sleep. We drink it too at times to relax, it tastes and smells great (strangely similar to leaf tea made from a plant I'm probably not allowed to name here...) Definitely cheaper and more convenient online than from the high street, though still a bit of a luxury item.
I didn't know what the term "tisane" is, till I found this wiki page: Herbal teas — less commonly called tisanes — are beverages made from the infusion or decoction of herbs, spices, or other plant material in hot water.
Okay...so its an herbal tea.
OVERALL: Is it worth $16 at the time of this writing? I'll probably get a good 20 or so cups out of it, so it is already about half the price of a Tall bagged tea at Starbucks. No fear of drinking this late at night and something keeping me up since it is an herbal tea. Light. Hint of lemon. Worth checking out.
+ At first I was unimpressed with the fist-size pouch inside the box (my man hands size, that is). But as I started dolling out a teaspoon's and/or a tablespoon's worth, it didn't make an apparent dent, so the amount received is fine.
> No sleepy time here. It isn't like a nice chamomile or whatnot, which seems the "real" sleepytime herbal tea.
> Light flavor. I can taste a hint of lemon, which more pronounced than any others. Even the scent was light and subtle...nothing that stands out that you are drinking much more than hot water. Sorry to say.
+ Even if I "forget" that I'm steeping this tea and come back 30minutes later, it is NOT bitter. I appreciate that with most herbal teas that you can steep the recommended 3-5 minutes or you can "accidentally" steep a pot for a few hours and still not get a bitter backlash.
I don’t generally like herbal tea, to the point that I don’t let people even call it “tea” because it is missing tea leaves (from the Camellia sinensis sinensis plant, aka “tea tree”, which is technically required in tea to be able to really categorize it as “tea”).
But I digress. That’s all to say I’m a tea nut and take this seriously ;-)
Now.... Herbal infusions range in taste, with flavors including but not limited to grassy, flowery, minty, herbal, stinky, bitter, leafy, or earthy. Often bland, they never reach the complexity, aroma, or depth of real tea. While that is still the case, in my opinion, this infusion came closest! The flavors were flowery, with a mentholated sensation from the lavender, which lent a perfumed quality to the mix alongside other ingredients that added some nuanced flavors. It was delicious, actually! And I did, indeed, feel very Very relaxed!! Also, the fact it came in proper loose leaf form instead of those dreadful little bags with pencil shavings was not lost on me. Those details make a difference in crafting a quality brew. This one is a superior choice among the herbal infusions!
4.0 out of 5 starsSoothing NIghttime Tea for Insomnia

I love T2 teas - they have a shop in NYC with tons of different flavors. Since I sometimes have trouble sleeping I was eager to try this Sleep Tight brew. According to the box, it has lemon balm, rose and jasmine savior. It tastes more like jasmine tea but it has a smoothness to it that's very soothing. It doesn't have caffeine which is great if you're sensitive to it.
Compared to Celestial Seasoning's "Sleepytime" tea (the one with the bears on it), I didn't find the tea strong enough to make me fall asleep easily, but it does feel relaxing to sip it and enjoy the subtle flavors. This is probably because the T2 tea has fewer additives, whereas the more commercial Bigelow has more of it. That's too bad, for it is a pleasant and healthier tea. So while it is very tasty and soothing, I need something stronger if I really have serious trouble sleeping. Overall I like the quality of this tea but will stick to Celestial Seasonings for a stronger effect.
