To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I am fairly upset that this item was shipped in it's original box. It was a gift and now it was shipped with a huge shipping label and even with it removed it is sticky and the items inside were damaged. very disappointed. will not use seller again
We couldn’t get this to work at all. You have to slide the maps around, because the camera view is too narrow to “see” the whole board, and it just doesn’t recognize the board 95% of the time. We tried 3 different devices, and all three were a bust.
It’s basically a hide and seek game. The app shows them what to find, they lay the magnifying glass down on the object (after you’ve slid the map over for the camera to hopefully detect), then you reposition the magnifying glass 12 times so they get credit for the find... it’s a mess.
Even if it worked perfectly, I’m not sure it’s any more fun than a Where’s Waldo book.
We loved the initial Osmo package, and have purchased a few others, so we were really keen on exploring their new product. Based on the reviews I read, it liked as if this could be interesting to a 9 year old. She was excited to try it, but lost interest 5 minutes into the game. The whole concept is that you’re looking for the particular character or site on the game using the magnifying glass. This was already quite boring as it is super simple and it doesn’t require more than a bit more careful look over the map. We nevertheless continued trying as we hoped the game would evolve into something at least slightly more exciting, but then the quality kicked in as an obvious match did not get recognized and the game got stuck. All told, not worth the money, especially for kids that are in the older part of the producer-recommended age range.
This was a boring OSMO game app. My 8 year old only used it 1-2 times. Nothing much to the game except search and find stuff on the map. I was hoping it would have some learning facts where the child would answer questions or interact. Not worth the $49.00 I paid for this. Is should be titled, search and find app. Maybe for 5 year old this would be fun.
The game works OK, giving 1 star due to the suggested age range and the misleading name. There isn’t anything “detective” about it, it’s just a digital seek and find. It’s very easy for my 9 year old daughter, can’t imagine anyone older playing it. I don’t think it will hold the attention of my 7 year old son. Also the music/noises can get annoying, the characters always repeating the same phrase.
This game is pretty expensive for what it is. My child was less then impressed with it. She played it once for 5 mjns and wont even reybit again. She said it was boring and too easy. She was 7. Ao it sits in the closet.
I'm not sure why the reviews for osmo are so high, it isn't very impressive. The detective game is very cute in it's appearance but it's very boring and could not keep my 5 year olds attention. I was bored for him. Such a sin because it's a really cute idea.
I didn’t read the description well enough. “Osmo base not included”. I looked to see if I could buy it separately and you can’t. So now I’m stuck with this because it’s too late to return it. Very disappointed.
