To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This is very expensive for what it does and the quality of the material. it’s space of very cheap feeling plastic. There are much better and more stable options available. I have had this for a few months now and though I was initially recommending it, I can no longer do this as I am finding that it keeps “crashing”. It becomes unresponsive and I have to remove its battery and reinsert it for it to recognize motion and come online again. It makes it pretty much useless.
When it works, I like that it provides the room illumination.
Sending this unit back. Inconsistent motion detection, lux readings make no sense and the unit stops talking to controller. Works for about 2 days then needs to be battery reset to start talking again.
I have an older Aeon unit right beside it which has been working for ages. You would figure the new TriSensor would be better then it's older sibling... Nope. As mentioned, light readings were way out in stupid range when it was bright and really only seemed to report accurately below 75 lux.
I purchased 3 of these based upon my favorable experience with other aeotec products including the multi Sensor 6, wallmotes, sirens etc. So far I have tried to use 2 of these without any success on my smart things system. I thought at first it was a problem with the included battery that seemed to die after one week. New Duracell batteries and still disconnecting from system in a day to a week. Just can't keep them running, they always seem to stick with motion on so related switches stay on sensing motion. Remove the battery and reset, they connect back up and run for a bit then start process over again. Also product case etc much cheaper material than the multi Sensor 6 line. These devices are useless to me and I am outside the Amazon return time so unless aeotec is listening, I am now out over $100. Look for a different product or spend the extra for the multi Sensor 6.
I’ve had great luck with other products from this company, but this wireless motion detector has been very problematic.
There are times when it doesn’t detect anything and then it randomly starts working again (about 5 times in the past 30 days since the install).
Then there is the battery life. I’ve had this installed for 25 days and the battery is at 10% this morning.
It’s cold out (winter in the Midwest), but I’ve got the unit installed in a heated garage that does go below 60 degrees except for the short time the garage door is open. I would expect shorter batter life with the cold, but this seems WAY to short of life.
Out of the box, motion sensor does not trigger. Everything else works as it should. I have tried to Enable and Disable the Motion Report parameter with No luck. So much for being plug and play. Aeotec was fast to support, but will not RMA the unit. Essentially Aeotec becomes unresponsive it's time RMA is mentioned.
Have a Hubitat Elevation Hub. I've spent 2 days trying to get this to include in the hub. It just won't. I've factory reset several times and that didn't help. Restarted my hub several times. The overall device is a pain. Aeotec has some of the highest prices of Z-Wave devices. It should be easier than this. Most of the other ones I've purchased in the past didn't have the problems I have with this. I am going to return it. I have better things to do with my time than get aggravated by this.
Broken. The motion sets to active...and then stays that way. Makes it useless. Looking online I see this behavior is not unique to the unit I bought. It would appear they are aware of this issue...but sell it anyway.
Update: the luminance sensor is now broken as well, continually setting itself to ridiculously high numbers. Surface of the sun numbers.
The temperature sensor still seems to work, though. So far.
The battery life on this is 1 year. I have gotten 3 months two different times. About to send it back as defective since it won't even come close to the 1 year they claim. It is still set to factory level so they can't claim that I have changed the parameters.
I bought this along with other from another brand, it works fine with smartthings when it has power but it happens to drain the battery in few weeks. At the beginning I thought it was the battery that came with it, but after it died I replaced it whit Duracel but it doesn’t last more than a coupes of weeks. I have an Aeon multisensor 6 and it uses the exact same battery and last for months without issues.
