To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
A little pricey. When it's working properly it works pretty well, however, I've tried 2 of these and both of them go offline every 2 days or so. The only way to bring them back to life is to temporarily remove the battery. I don't have this problem with any of my other sensors. Very frustrating.
I bought this sensor few weeks ago, and found it quite unreliable with my Vera Lite gateway. It looks pretty good, however the plastic looks more cheap than expected. The initial pairing was easy, but I had to look in the doc online to find that some advanced configuration is needed to use motion detection. So far so good, I would have put 4 stars. However, every few days it stops to communicate with my Vera and I have to unpair and repair it. This process is not smooth as most of the time it can not exchange security keys with the gateway and it takes several tries to pair successfully. Now, about 28 days later it is not responding at all. I suspect the battery is completely dead, which is quite disappointing. I kept all settings to default, so expected to have a year of battery as advertised.
I am a technical savvy person. The Good: battery life, temperature, lumen indicator, accuracy of these two sensors
The Bad: took over 2 hours to setup because it would recognize as a multipurpose sensor + no real instructions on the color code pattern or meaning+ if you did set it up ,the battery sensor would not tell the percent of the battery. Support was not helpful and the biggest problem was the motion sensor! SUPRISE to me that it only works up to 10 feet on a good day and 5 feet on a bad day. Who really needs a sensor to tell them how bright it is? It's cool but who really needs it...
I used this product outside under an overhang. No, I would not recommend this product. This item was returned.
I purchased this item to detect motion and turn on the lights in my attached garage. The sensor was successfully detected and added by my isy994i controller.
Everything was programmed and working, but within 24 hours the sensor stopped communicating with my isy controller. Due to the poor instruction manual (very small type and not too informative), I decided to return it and try a different brand.
When they work they are perfect and exactly what I was looking for but they frequently disconnect. I'm only 30 ft from the SmartThings hub and less than 5 ft from zwave + switches that are supposed to act as repeaters. I have two that behave the same. I have no issues with other zwave devices.
After doing the manual configuration for Vera Plus I got it to work. However, the range of this sensor is nowhere what’s advertised, the mount bracket doesn’t allow the sensor to be mounted like a ball connection, it has four slots that limits the range of movement and it’s lose making the sensor move. The battery life is also horrible, it’s at 10% after three months.
