I really like my soda-water (seltzer) to be really fizzy so for years I've used a soda syphon because a normal 2 litre bottle will be flat before you get to finish it. I've been looking for something like the Sodafall soda Dispenser for ages. Very pleased to find it does the job of keeping the fizz all the way to empty. Tip; chill the bottle as cold as possible without actually freezing it before opening it slowly. Fit the Sodafall soda Dispenser and return to the fridge for 30 minutes before using. Great product, well pleased.
I've been trying different ways to dispense soda water without losing the CO2 charge for (not exaggerating) at least 25 years. I tried pumps, stoppers, and another brand of trigger dispenser. Up until trying this, nothing really was up to the task. This dispenser finally satisfies my need. Primarily, it is so much more robust than the other solutions out there, practically bulletproof. Also, it seems to dispense without squandering as much of the CO2 as the other alternative products. The only downside is that it will always dribble a bit after dispensing. I do think a designer could do something to address this at some point, but for now it is a trade-off I can surely live with. If you're tired of a dispenser that breaks if you happen to ever so slightly overtighten it on the bottle, then this is for you.
I wanted to use it for a while before writing this review. Here are some of the issues you might face. First, it attaches to the top, so it does make the soda bottle tall. It adds almost 3" to the height. Also, when you pore from it, the drink will foam heavily losing much of the carbonation. You will see this on video ads. The reason is the imperfections in the product. The bottles are made with no imperfections, which causes the carbonation to remain. My expectation is that this foaming is caused by the plastic injection process. Now for the good parts. Parts for excellent. Plastic is thick, seals are of softer plastic to allow a better seal. They provide two straws for different lengths. For a Coca-cola bottle, it reaches to about 1 inch from the bottom. I just empty it at the end. The internals that touch the soda are plastic and not metal so not rust points. Spring is heavy to keep the pressure in the bottle. Will keep sufficient pressure to empty the bottle. This was a concern since there is no way to "pump up" the air, but it works.
Here is how I use it. First, I put it in the meat drawer in the frig for a day. It is close to 32 degrees. When I start using it, I open the bottle, pour the first cup, then attach the unit. This allows for more air initially in the bottle which reduces the carbonation that has to be released to maintain pressure.
So, the end result it that it work very well, but could be better if the plastic was manufactured better to reduce the foaming.
It works (see video). But 3 stars because it comes out all super bubbly (as shown on video) that it loses some of the fizz on the way! So it's not for me. Not returning it since it is fun to use. But fizz is what I needed it for. WARNING - YOU MUST START WITH VERY CHILLED BOTTLE. The first time we tried it was only in the fridge for a couple of hours. That was big fail. The video shows the one that was refrigerated overnight.
We've given up on this, but it's also the type of item we don't feel good returning either, so we'll just keep it in the drawer. The problem is that it shoots out a tremendous amount of foam, so your soda tastes a little flat. That is why my headline says, "Defeats the purpose..." What good is saving all that carbon when you can't enjoy it? We followed their directions to dispense slowly, and to tilt and press the glass against the spout. It doesn't help, so I wonder... how slow do you have to go? It would be excruciatingly tedious to dispense at the speed of a sloth every time we want a glass. The search continues...
I grew up in the age of Seltzer bottles, which are no longer made, and I miss them. So, I purchased this dispenser. it's fun and nostalgic. The only difference is that the dispenser will dispense an amount based on the amount of pressure in the bottle before having to have some pressure again built up by shaking or waiting, whereas one could empty a seltzer bottle with one long press. The reason this is not important really, is that it dispenses pretty much the exact amount you would want anyway and would have used from a seltzer bottle, without the problem that if you dropped a seltzer bottle, you could wind up with exploding glass. I use it every day. Easy and Functional.
Used this for seltzer water to make good old fashioned egg creams -- and IT WORKS! Delicious, fizzy, and perfect - just like back in the day. I thought I would miss the CO2-cartridged seltzer bottle but this little gem did the trick! I am MORE than pleased!
