I haven't worn this brand in several years, so I was unfamiliar with the sizing. I wear a 30. I thought I could squeeze into a 29 since this was a curvy fit. I was wrong. I couldn't get these jeans past my thighs on the first try. After some deep squats, I managed to get them up to my upper thighs/low hips. I probably would have needed a 31 for these to fit properly. If you're unfamiliar with this brand's sizing, I suggest sizing up.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this review. I hope the information that I've provided makes your decision a little easier.
These are great! The denim is just soso for Joe Jeans, but Joe Jeans are known for being all over the place with denim styles and finishes. These jeans are exactly as advertised, and are a classic denim, blue jean material, soft and feel broken in. There is a lot of stretch to these jeans so they'd be great for people with curves. I usually wear a 28, sometimes a 27 in Joe Jeans. These are so comfy. I'm so glad to be rid of the hip-huggers, and I'm ready for high waist pants to make a come back. I added a photo of me pulling the waist out. I ordered these 29" knowing that there's a chance they'll fit or run small, but they are right on. They are not snug and there is enough stretch to the fabric that they are most likely not going to become baggy over the course of the day like Lucky jeans often do. You have to shrink those after every use, but these should be fine all day and be easier to wear. Great jeans, and I'm so excited about the generous length.
Jeans are such a funny thing, I have to have them, I love to wear them, but sometimes shopping for them is like shopping for a bathing suit: too short, too wide, too narrow, too stretchy, not stretchy enough, too high up, not high enough. It always amazes me when a certain jean becomes really popular because how does it actually fit all those people???? These Joe's jeans are not perfect but they meet almost all my requirements in a pair of jeans: decent color, long enough legs, just the right height in the waist. I found out a long time ago that if you are lucky enough to find jeans that come in "tall", everything is taller, and since I hate them coming up to my armpits just to get the legs long enough, they rarely work for me. Also, I'm pretty average sized otherwise, so to get them long enough I hate when the legs are wide enough for a much bigger person. The fit is good, legs are long, waist not too high, not too low. The denim is not heavy duty, and has a bit of stretch. Honestly, I don't really like stretchy jeans but that's how they all are so I"m learning to deal with it. These are a good fitting, long legged, narrow leg with a flare jean in a good all purpose denim color. For reference, I am 5'10" tall, weigh 162 pounds, typically wear a size 10, or in jeans a 29 or 30. These are a 30, and fit like other 30's I've owned.
I'm a regular wearer of the Joes Honey Bootcut and as I've gotten older that low rise looks less and less appropriate for me. I'm thrilled to have this pair with a slightly higher rise. 29 is my regular size and that's what I got in this fit and they fit perfectly, as expected.
This wash is much lighter than I would normally wear but it is very cute and flattering on me.
The denim is not the Joe's rigid, this is a softer denim with what feels like about 1.5-2% elastane, so they are substantial enough. I prefer rigid denim but these are perfectly wearable with enough stretch to flatter but not so much that they feel like cheap pajama jeans.
I carry all my weight in my midsection which makes it challenging to find jeans that fit both my belly and my legs. I usually stick with jeans that sit below my belly, but I've heard a lot of moms raving about high waist jeans holding everything in so I figured I would give a high rise style a try. I love the quality of these jeans. They have the perfect balance of stretch and firmness, thick, but not heavy. The fit is absolutely perfect. Of course they were too long for me at 5'2, but if the fit is right everywhere else I can always get them hemmed. The band comfortably fit around my belly and the legs and butt fit nicely too. Unfortunately for me the high rise didn't work as hoped. My belly must be too big to benefit from the high rise because I still got a lovely muffin top, it just sat higher than normal. Maybe I need a high rise that sits under my bust?! 😂 Also for reference- I ordered a size 30.
These are decent jeans but overpriced for the quality. The fabric is relatively lightweight, almost a summer weight denim. It is a 98/2 cotton/spandex blend. The cut is great. The back rise is long enough to cover stretching and bending without looking like a plumber. The whiskering is relatively subtle and looks decent. The inseam is super long. i am 5,2" and even with my highest heels, they still need to be hemmed a couple of inches. The outside seams are not flat felled which is a much stronger seam. I am a little surprised by this, given the asking price. Also, the belt loops lack attention to detail. there are raw edges and they are single stitched instead of two rows of stitching side by side. I may seem nit picky but if I am spending $168 on jeans they should also be high quality, durable, and made to last without having to dry clean them.
One thing you should note is that dry cleaning is recommended. I machine washed and tumble dried these and they came out fine but I can see that they won't hold up as well as they would with dry cleaning.
At the time of this review the retail price was around $168 which a steep for the quality but these are great jeans if you don't mind paying for the brand name.
These are really cute well made jeans. They do have some stretch to them however they are really long. At least the pair I got. I'm 5'4 and I have long legs but I wont be able to wear these with like a 4 inch boot heel these straight up will only look good with like a 6 inch and above heel, really. Or if you are tall they would work out better with someone who is taller. I might just get a lil taken off on the bottom since I really liked the fit up top. However I did pair this with some tall black heeled booties and a cute black off the should crop and it looked so cute with the jeans high waist. Also keep in mind they may be a a bit snug if you get your size I'am a 29 but this were a bit of work to get over my thick thighs.
I’m 5’10” and I have jeans that are a 31/12 and 32/14 that fit me. These were way too small for me (size 31). The length is amazing though. I could have worn a heel with them if they zipped up around my waist. The size chart is probably accurate. I didn’t use it. I assumed that like most jeans these days, they were vanity sized and had a lot of stretch to them. They are not vanity sized and they didn’t have enough stretch to fit me.
I’m 5’4. I’m long waisted and have a small waist. These jeans fit really nice everywhere else except the length. I’m going to have to get them gemmed aeasr 2 inches if not more and that’s wearing wedges. The material is soft and slightly stretchy. The pockets sit over the entire buttocks. I wish the pickets were a little shorter as it makes your butt look a little more perky. Overall- nice jeans.
