the 'sheerness' of this tool is indescribably nifty. but seriously, i used to sweat every time i busted out my channel locks to tighten the nut holding a Gibson toggle switch -- 1 slip and i'll put a huge scratch on the deck of the guitar. i've been wanting a tool like this for years and i'm glad i stumbled onto it on amazon. i've used it twice so far and it works very well. it's inexpensive, robust, simple, and easy to store, which is essential for a specialty tool like this. i still use a socket for hex nuts as i'm less apt to slip, but for the serrated nuts this can't be beat.
I bought this to replace the machine heads on my Tele with locking tuners. This did help for most of them, but was less helpful for other due to its size and shape. I ended up purchasing a multi-tool, which had its own limitations.
I will keep this, and I can tell I can use it for other things. It is padded on the bottom, so I don't have to worry about the finish.
I got this spanner to adjust string height on my Les Paul. The turn wheels are too stiff to turn by hand and a regular pair of pliers is just the ticket for marring the finish on your baby. The spanner does the job with ease and with no worries about scratching your axe. Great tool!
This spanner is great to have in your guitar case. I have been to allot of gigs where suddenly there is a loose switch. No problem now! This wrench, for some reason, did not have felt attached. The felt is critical as without it the guitar will get scratched.- not good
