I am very happy with this product, it arrived 2 days early, it was well-packaged and it was an accurate representation of the product that I ordered online. The scanner is small enough and light, easy to operate. Scanning the chip located in between my cat's shoulder blades took seconds, and the black screen with white numbers was easy to read. It comes complete with a USB cable for charging it. I'd recommend this product.
If you search for AVID MiniTracker I on Amazon, this reader scanner shows up, but do not buy it if your pet has a AVID 9 digit chip. It will not see it or read it. It's a very nice little machine at a good price, but it will not help you if you need to go through customs in Europe with a pet who has a nine digit number.
I am a magnet for stray animals, and we also have 13 fur babies of our own. Between the strays that inevitably show up on our land, and needing to update all of my own babies microchips, this thing has been a lifesaver. No more loading up stray dogs or cats into the car to drive them to the vet to get scanned, I can simply do it from home. This has helped me get two dogs back to their owners quickly so far, and I imagine it will get used heavily going forward. The charge lasts for forever, the numbers are legible and easy to read, and stay on the screen long enough to be written down. It hasn't missed a microchip yet, it picks them up very quickly.
Works on all microchips I've tested it on. Would recommend.
*Update* stopped working within 5 months. Instead of refunding me my money and taking back the defective item the company insisted on sending a replacement. I had already decided to purchase a different brand.
I purchased this so I can scan for microchips in strays/found pets, as well as deceased pets I come across as hopes to finding their owners. This scanner easily reads 15 digit microchips and it's extremely fast. I was able to use it straight out of the box to test it on my pets. It comes with a charger. Super easy to use. I do recommend having your phone handy to take a picture of the microchip number if needed. I work with a dog rescue and also have stray cats attracted to me, so this is nice to have to scan. I plan on keeping this in my car for emergencies. I believe this will also read 10 digit microchips, and for sure reads 15 digit. I have PetLink and HomeAgain chips, and this scanner reads them with ease. I highly recommend this, and it's great for the price. Very lightweight, as well.
I didn't even have to charge it first. It popped up the number as soon as I held it over shoulder. I am sooooo glad I decided to get this, this way if I find any strays, I can immediately scan them, instead of having to go to the Vet (or they are closed), and get them reunited with their family again. I HIGHLY recommend this....or if not this one, any other to have on hand.
What a waste of money. I have a cat door that reads a microchip. That works fine but this scanner failed. It was supposed to read all types. I have an Avid microchip. ( 9 digits I believe). Very common. IT DOES NOT WORK!!!! RIP OFF!
We breed kittens and if they look alike and lose their colored collars after being micro chipped it can be a disaster if selling the wrong one. So we must have a reader. It's saved us a couple if times! This one has been working well for us.
Bought this to verify some HomeAgain microchips I purchased on Amazon, and it works great. Reads quickly, and the display is bright and easy to read. Simple one button operation to turn on and scan, and the unit turns itself off automatically after 60 secs. Great price too and was able to get it next day, thanks Yanzeo and Amazon!
Do not purchase this. It is a hunk of junk. It will not read chips that have been implanted. Reads them fine in the needle but once they’re in it won’t pick it up. Waste of money. Purchase the Halo instead.
