A fine selection of songs which are really sung beautifully. The orchestration, arrangements and harmonies are superb and Russell and Aled's voices blend together so well. There are many times on the CD when the harmonising and blending of their voices is simply divine and quite dreamy. My favourite tracks are 'Cinema Paradiso' and 'May The Good Lord Bless and Keep You'. A relaxing, 'feel-good' listening experience.
I am a huge Russell fan and this CD is simply awesome and totally sublime. No two voices go together better than these. Music choices are fantastic and represent their aims of making this CD. Cinema Paradiso is out of this world. Get it and you’ll not be disappointed. Totally recommended. Well done to all those involved..
Received this as a birthday present. I’m a long-standing fan of Aled and ‘quite liked’ Russell but this is a beautiful collaboration of two lovely voices. The choice of music is wonderful, playing on the strengths of both. I already have a lot of the songs on other Aled albums, but the addition of Russell’s harmonies gives them an added dimension which makes them seem new again. I was very pleased with the inclusion of ‘In Christ Alone’, a favourite hymn of mine from watching Songs of Praise.
The two unusually beautiful male voices blend beautifully in sublime hymns with orchestral and choir accompaniment.
The predominantly religious vocals are varied and riveting while occasionally interspersed with secular classics like Volare. The two male voices and the male and female choir are accompanied by the the New Zealand Sinfonietta comprising violins, Flute, Trumpet and Percussion.
In the fourteen song compilation there are such well known and beloved such as Ave Maria while the compilation concludes with a divine Silent Night.
Received today. It's an absolute joy. In not particularly a fan of Aled or Russel but liked the idea of the cd. What a find each track beautiful in its own way. Two voices that blend together so well it heartbreakingly wonderful. I've played it once and halfway through an immediate replay. Just lovely.
I love this CD. So often when two artists who are themselves well known get together you find that their voices don’t blend and that they are almost competing with each other to show off their skills. Not here. Aled and Russell work well together to make their voices blend and support each other, giving a delightful musical result.
The choice of songs isn’t necessarily what I would have chosen – Russell Watson certainly has more showy CDs out (with grand operatic songs), but they definitely deliver a very pleasing and relaxing listening experience.
This is a truly superb CD features two top artists. The production is superb and the sound outstanding. A wonderful selection of songs which will appeal to all. This CD also confirms that Russell Watson, the " Peoples Tenor ", is still head and shoulders above any other British tenor. A No.1 album from two world class entertainers.
A pleasing combination of two well-known voices performing a selection of songs in attractive musical settings. The choice of material could have been more MoR than formal/religious (my personal description) and I would probably have awarded the disc 5 stars on the evidence of the production as what is there is well worth the modest cost.
Wasn't sure about this until I heard it, and was well impressed by the harmonies within each of the melodies. One of my favourite pieces of music is Nimrod - and it was sung by these two, and sounded really good. Look forward to the next album
