Amazon calculates a product’s star ratings using a machine learned model instead of a raw data average. The machine learned model takes into account factors including: the age of a review, helpfulness votes by customers and whether the reviews are from verified purchases.
The scale is small, but not so small as to be "pocket sized" (like some of it's competitors). I use mine to measure spices and salt quantities: fine amounts that would never work on a larger, less accurate, 1 gram scale. This scale is 100 times more accurate. The display is very bright and easy to read, and it reacts in real time as you're adding (in my case) spices.
It comes with batteries and weight to calibrate the scale. The calibration worked well first time. The scale was already accurate, but a few fractions of a decimal point out. The calibration corrected that. It also came with two plastic trays, which I use to measure my spices into.
I was pleasantly surprised, nice scales and easy to use. It's important with any sensitive scales to treat them carefully always cover them with the included plastic covers, turn on for 30-60 seconds before weighing to let thing settle, place items on the scales gently.
Nice looking scales too, happy as Larry (and apparently he is very happy).
