Please don’t buy these for your cats. Kitty caps are supposed to naturally fall off in 6 weeks, and these have been glued to my cats nails for almost 3 months. Their nails are so overgrown and I’m going to have to bring them to the vet to get them taken off. Just do you fur babies a favour and don’t buy them.
I want to preface this by saying it will most likely be hard to get them on your cat. Cats don't like it very much when you clip their nails and play with their paws. This being said, I have a lot of practice and was able to get them on easily and they have by far been the most durable soft claws my cat has had. The glue is good and has held longer than any others. Usually he would lose a few soft claws by the end of the month but one month later and he still has all of them this time. Its important to know that colors are random, so there aren't 10 of any single color. If you care about your cat having matching claws front and back then these aren't for you.
Bought this because I just got a new sofa and was worried that my 1 year old cat tried to tear it off like it did to my old one.
It was easy to apply. I trimmed his claws first. Put a little glue in ten caps before applying them so that the glue begin to dry a bit before the application. Press a little on the cap when on a claw to make the glue spread inside the cap.
I watched my cat for at least 30 mins after the application, he was trying to bite them at first, even manage to take one off. I just put a little more glue and put it back on. I distract him by playing with him and giving him some treats.
It's been 2 days now and it seems my cat doesn't notice them anymore.
Be warned that it is a strong glue! Kind of like Crazy glue. Try not to spill any on yours fingers!
I'm giving 4 stars just cause I don't know how long they will last. Great product overall for the price.
My girl has seasonal allergies which we manage with medication but every once in a while she goes at it with her scratching to the point she has scabs all over her neck and ears. We got these to give her an option to scratch but not as harshly as she was doing. We invite her for some extra scritches and scratches when she's having a hard time which she loves and the caps have stopped her from tearing up her skin. I do have some complaints though. The booklet doesn't mention how long they should last for. Secondly, there's no adhesive remover included so if you're not careful you could very easily glue their toes together.
If you're having trouble with getting you cat to cooperate. Put them on their back between you and the arm of the couch. My moms cats HATE me but by putting them in that position they have no angle to really move and if they do wiggle out where I can no longer safely do the trim they get put right back into position. Nail clipping is 30 seconds for all 4 paws when I put them in that position. If you're buying these for a kitten touch their paws from a young age so they get used to it. For adult cats gently brush your finger of their paws if they're relaxing. Get them used to it. I adopted a cat at 3 years and there was some struggle but he learned to trust me when handling his paws.
The shipping was very fast so I will rate high for that reason. I usually buy the higher quality, far more expensive Soft Claws. You only get 40 in a pack and they cost over $20, so this seemed like a nice alternative and would save me money. I read reviews prior to purchasing because they were on the lower price scale. Everyone warned to size down so I did. I usually get a size small for my cats, even though they're adults (they're so tiny). The sizing difference is crazy. I ordered small and look at the size in my photos compared to the small I usually buy. I think that even if I were to size down to XS, they'd still be too large, unfortunately. Size at least 1 size down, if not 2. They're also much softer so I can see my cats chewing through them. I havent tried them because they're too big so I can't rate the longevity of the glue. They also smell very toxic like cheap plastic, so I'm afraid to even try these on my cats. Perhaps if they were aired out for a day or two they'd be okay.
I wish they were the proper size so I could give a full review and wouldn't have to return them.
These worked great to prevent my cat from scratching a sensitive spot. She has been over grooming an area on her neck for a couple years (seasonally), but when I put a cone on her she is still able to scratch the spot with her back paws. These caps were a bit difficult to put on, as to be expected when touching a cats paws, but I was able to swaddle her comfortably with just her back paws sticking out. They have been on for about 2 weeks and my cat is cone free and scratch free! Her neck looks great and she has an adorable little paw-dicure on her back toes!
These are wonderful. So easy to get on our cat. Luckily she is a softie and stayed easily for us to do it. I’ve Added photos to show how good they are. Although my husband who wanted to try to do one, put one claw on the wrong way round lol cat isn’t bothered though and it gave us a giggle. Two days and they are still on, Cat is happy and no more carpet pulling.
They’re ok for the price I guess but the thickness in the caps is very inconsistent, some are nice and thin and are more comfortable for the cat and others are very thick and bulky. I use them on my 3 Sphynx and the thick caps make it so their toe folds are pushed and held back
These were a lot easier to put on than I had anticipated. One or two fell off once in a while but it was so easy to pop it back on. The only problem I encountered was I went ahead and put them on before doing my research or watching videos. I think I put them up to high and it caused him a bit of discomfort. After a day or two he barely notices they are on anymore. I recommend them for somebody who needs to deal with cat scratches like we did.
Was about to pay 35$ to ask someone to take care of it when I saw that online. Since it was that cheap I tought I would give it a try and I am very glad that I did. I was able to do it alone in about 15 minutes for the front claws. My cat have them for a week now and it's pretty solid ! Thank you. (Bought XSmall for my 6 months old cat)
