Way, WAY too small. Purchased this to try and get a second day out of my curly hair. My hair is medium long and fine, never been able to do a thick braid with it so there's not that much of it. I could barely get my hair in this or get it over my head. This crushed my hair pretty tightly against my head and my curls were flattened just by putting it on. Only suitable for a child or very short hair on a very small head. Candy red is a pretty dark blush pink though and it is real silk.
The cap is nice enough, the material is thin but sufficiently sturdy. I didn’t care for the style overmuch but I use it for around the house and sleep so that’s fine. I actually use the weird flaps of fabric to tie the cap a little more snugly on my head when I’m wearing it around the house, it helps it stay on better sincerely I have such a small head.
I needed a cap to wear to protect clothes and bedding when doing oil treatments on my hair. I’ve experienced extremely dry, brittle hair as a result of a medical condition, so protecting my hair from further breakage is incredibly important. I sleep on silk pillowcases and use silk head scarves as much as possible to help prevent breakage, and so I needed something equally smooth and frictionless for the cap. Unfortunately only the outside of this cap is silky smooth. The inside feels much more scratchy, more like acetate (like the inside of really really cheap polyester satin clothes). Because of this I have my doubts about this being genuine silk. My Alaska Bear silk pillowcases are genuine mulberry silk and the inside of those cases doesn’t feel scratchy like the cap does. The inside of the pillowcases feels a little less smooth than the outside, but by no means is it scratchy feeling, so I suspect this product isn’t what it claims to be. I can’t easily wear the cap inside out because of how it’s designed, so there’s no easy way around the scratchiness and that makes it hard to want to keep using it.
My hair is not long or thick. It's medium to thin, chin length in front and shorter in back. I got this because my hair is curly and my pillowcase and CPAP mask make it frizzy overnight. This cap is so small it smashed all my hair flat, so I didn't have frizz... I had hat hair instead. Not a good look.
Also, stupidly, the smooth side of the fabric is on the outside and the rough side is on the inside. So if you want to avoid frizz you have to wear it inside out.
I'm not sure who this is for - maybe people with tiny heads whose hair is all braided close to their head? People with straight hair that lies close to their head? Either way if you have big hair it's not for you.
Wasn't what I expected. Didn't feel like silk but I can say I received a e-mail after 1 day stating that I would get a full refund due to the fact that I didn't like it. Will check my visa to see if I received the refund. So, I am happy. I didn't have to pull teeth to get a response. Amen!!! Happy shopper.
This is a very cute bonnet and I ordered the large (I think) I have chin length hair and wear a 7 1/4 sized hat (to help you gage) and this thing slipped around so much every night until it just slipped off or I took it off every night. Every time it moved the elastic pulled at the little hairs on along my lower hairline causing me to itch! Very annoying. So I sent mine back. I might order another, but for now, the one I bought @ the blue store 😉 for $2.99 is doing just great! Even better, IT HAS NO ELASTIC!
This comes packaged beautifully. I was ready to slip this fine silk bonnet on before bed and sleep lavishly. But what I consider extra large and the size of this do not align. It wouldn’t fit over my head unless I shaved all my hair off, or maybe ran a flat iron through it, neither of which will happen. This is not for someone with thick, textured or a lot of hair.
This cap is actually comfortable to sleep in and stays on. There isn’t elastic on your forehead which is nice but the mark it puts on your forehead lasts all day and it’s deep. I have very fine, short hair and my hair barely fits in it. I don’t know how anyone with thick or long hair could use it. It is hard to find a good, comfortable sleep cap, the search continues.
I had this for less than 2 weeks when the elastic stretched out and I had to use bobby pins to hold it in place on my head while I slept. This is so NOT worth the price. Also, those fringe things on the back add nothing to the product and are mostly a nuisance. I should have listened to my niece and bought one at the dollar store for a lot less!!
I bought this because I have curly hair and needed a smooth bonnet to sleep in to keep my hair from getting frizzy. I couldn't find a silk pillowcase I wanted so I decided to try this instead. It's slightly uncomfortable around the ears and will not hold its place at all while I sleep. Everytime I woke up it was completely off my head (and I don't move much in my sleep) which completely defeated the purpose of wearing this. I still get use out of it by wearing it while I do my make up, though. I'll keep looking for a pillowcase.
Good: it's a good size (my head is average-to-smaller size), it's definitely silk. Bad: the two little extra fabric "tails" feel ticklish if you leave them out, and the teal blue color bleeds in the wash. I've washed it twice in the sink so far, it bleeds immediately. So I'm glad I didn't wash them w/ the rest of my clothes!
