PROS: - Can be tightened to stay on throughout the night - Soft fabric
CONS: - The elastic band is completely exposed on the inside of the cap which means that it's in direct contact with your hair. If anyone is familiar with elastic bands, they are fairly rough in texture (at least compared to something like satin), so given that this rough surface will be not only tightened against your hair, but will likely be subject to friction (from moving around at night), I highly suspect that this will cause breakage or damage to the hair that's in direct contact with this elastic band. - When tightened in order to keep on throughout the night, the point that it's tightened is focused in one spot on your head and can be uncomfortable or even painful during sleep (the area that controls the tightness should have a more even distribution of the tension, but instead it's focused on the knotted area that you tighten against your head) - Not super attractive (looks a bit too "raggy" when tied in the back and looks weird with the 3 ties when you try to tie it on top of your head)
I have african american/ethnic hair that needs to be protected from pillow cases and bed sheets that arent satin as they would otherwise dry out my hair and cause breakage or balding from rubbing against them. I wear this everynight. It could be a little bigger but i make it work. Ive experienced just a little breakage/balding at my perimeter from my temple to my ear but its very minimal and im currently looking for a fix but intend to continue using this because its not severe or noticeable to others. If it were a bit bigger, im thinking it wouldnt be an issue at all. I would recommend to others.
It was perfect for about a week and then the elastic gave out. I’ve been using the ties on the back that used to irritate my neck to tie it on. I can fit all of my shoulder length hair in it and it does reduce the number of tangles in the morning, but if you tie it tight enough to stay on you get a nice line on your forehead. I think I’ll just have to try one that doesn’t have elastic.
This is probably not even 20% silk. It’s some cheap satiny material. X-large is about 2” bigger, I should have gone with the other size. Even though it’s loose fitting it didn’t fall off during the night and the little extra fabric on the back do help to adjust it (found those too short so if you have large hands it might be difficult to tie). It’s an okay sleeping cap buuuuuut I do wish it were better quality. Still on the search for the perfect sleeping bonnet.
The ties on this item are extremely strange and you end up with a knot, a space for the hair to stick out above it, and one more tie dangling around your ear! It does not come with tying instructions as indicated, so your guess and experimentation is all you have. Good luck! I’ve tried every combination and have yet to come up with a workable solution.
Easily frayed, poor design and doesn't stay on at night no matter what I do. If you buy this you might want to wear something on top of it to keep it on at night. Also, I have to turn it inside out because the silk side was manufactured on the outside. The design doesn't make much sense tbh. I don't know if this is actual silk but it does help my hair as far as softness goes. I like to put it in after I blow dry my hair, it helps soften and smooth the cuticle.
It has a slickness to it so it’s still alright for keeping moisture in the hair but it’s not real silk. I tested the fabric with a lighter, the whole thing went up in flames so quick that I almost dropped it on the floor lol. Real silk doesn’t do that, it also crumbled and a had plastic like smell from the burn test.
I wanted this to work but it didn't stay on my head when sleeping. The first night it was still on my head and my hair definitely wasn't as frizzy. But since then I have to find it when I wake up. Granted, I toss and turn a lot, but one small move and it's off. Wish those pieces of matierial that hang down in the back actually tied to make it tighter, but they just hang there. Next I'll try a longer scarf that I can tie.
It's comfortable enough. Fits perfectly in the sense that it doesn't have a lot of wiggle room. Designed for a smaller head or those with thinner hair. It stayed on overnight. And I toss and turn when I sleep! I'm happy with it only because my hair is thinner now and this holds it in place.
This was great at first, because it’s easy to use and fit snugly. Over time it has stretched out and falls off while I sleep. I’m going for a regular scarf now, because the convenience of the cap doesn’t make up for the lack of usability 2-3 months after purchase.
