I love this. I have very curly, frizzy hair that I have to re-curl every morning for a smooth & polished look. It’s a lot of work. I read sleeping in a silk cap might cut down some of that work. Without the cap, my hair was matted, frizzy and the waves/curls were stretched out & straggly in the morning. Now, with the cap, I only have to do some minor fixes to my bangs and that’s it! No re-curling my entire head. The curls are still there and look perfect! What used to take me 20 minutes, only takes me 5 now. And I’m not burning & damaging my hair every day! I love this cap!
Another reviewer made the right comment when she said it is technically sewn inside out -- the smooth part of the silk is outside of the cap, rather than inside. So I sleep with the cap inside out.
I am using this to try to save my fine hair and see if it will grow longer and smoother if I don't sleep with it in an elastic ponytail (I have oily skin and hair so sleeping with my hair lose it out of the question -- imagine the oil slick!). It certainly preserves my hair, I wake up with it looking smoother with almost no effort on my part.
I hope within a few months I might be able to boast smooth hair I've never had in my life. I definitely think wearing my hair tucked up is better for it than sleeping in an elastic. That being said, I may need to order one or two more, in case one gets oily. For this price, why not?
So as others have mentioned in the reviews before, they created this bonnet with the shiny silk on the outside. Strange choice, but I just turned it inside out and that works fine. This is actually much stretchier than I anticipated and the bits in the back that look like ties actually aren't so you can't tighten this bonnet. Some nights it stays on and some nights it doesn't. It's more secure on fresh wash days when my hair is at its poofiest and dryest.
This silk sleep cap does hold my thick, wavy, hip-length hair, and manages to stay on my head until I remove it. The three "tails" aren't just decorative; if I didn't capture all the hair inside, I can use a tail to lift the edge of the cap, and tuck in the loose hair. The front of the cap is smooth, with no elastic - which I found comfortable against my forehead. Looking forward to many better mornings with less work to get my curls presentable for the day.
I am happy with this little sleeping cap, but it's very small. I have a very short hair cut as well as fine hair. People with long or course/very thick hair would have some difficulty with this cap. It looks a little weird because it's has three little flaps, which I guess can be used to tighten the cap, but not sure why there are three. I preferred scraves but it was too much material. I would buy it again.
I have psoriasis and Hidradenitis Supportiva so I have to make sure I don’t sweat or get hot. This is very breathable and comfortable, plus stays in place though I toss and turn a lot. I’m mixed & it helps to keep my hair straight after just flat ironing it overnight.
