At first we loved this. After about a week we started to not like it.
What it does great:
The novelty! Our 3 year old (who is admittedly a little to large for this) LOVED sitting on the potty. She went about twice as often Just because she wanted to sit on it and flush it.
However, after a while, she got annoyed that "flushing" didn't actually flush it. Just a sound effect. Shes a smart cookie, and has sat on the "big girl" toilet before, so this is expected. We introduced this potty far to late in our potty training expedition.
I also like the wipe storage up top, but it also made our 3 year old curious as to whats under (the heavy, ceramic) lid of our "adult" toilet. (hint: water. Playtime)
I like the included seat hook but it does make the top of your toilet sit uneven if you hook it on your toilet - If you put decorations on top of your toilet like us it makes it much more likely that they will wobble/fall off.
My main complaint is the "topper" seat... Its a somewhat firm yet soft foam, and is designed to fit over most toilets. It fits nicely on ours, except that after a few days - There's pee everywhere! The pee seems to dribble down and collect on the sides and therefor on our seat. I haven't see How our daughter is accomplishing this, but its the first time we've encountered it with a potty seat insert. (this being the 4th insert we've used in the lat 6 months)
If the last "Transition" doesn't work well at all, that does bring the usefullness of this down a few pegs.
Unfortunately because of this, I have to take off 2 stars. Granted its just a single part of the potty (and it works well on the potty) but using that insert on a full sized toilet Just doesn't keep things nice and neat.
My daughter is a tiny gal, at 31". We're potty training her slightly "early" although modern parenting seems to be moving toward this anyway (she is 19 months). Anyway she can't get on and off this easily on her own. The built-in splash guard (presumably for boys? I don't know, we only have the one) is really high and hits her little area there when she tries to get off. I have to think it's uncomfortable. Her feet also dangle when she's sitting on it, so I just have to think maybe a smaller one will be better until she gets a bit older. She LOVES the flushing, this potty really is the Rolls-Royce of potties, I do love it, but I just think it's suited for a taller babe than mine - if they can fit though, this potty is the sh*t!
Love that it is a miniature toilet as my little one is obsessed with the big toilet. My little one loves that it makes sound when you flush and looks like the big one but the his size. Only problem I have is that the seat that can move to the big potty is not very sturdy at all. I do not know if it's just our toilet but I do not think it is the best. But if you are just looking for a kid sized toilet this is perfect. So 5 stars for that but I took 2 off as they sell it as a transitional toilet which is a major reason we bought it. And the toilet seat doesn't feel safe at all.
I wanted to love this. It’s very realistic. For a girl it would probably work perfectly. For a boy, not so much. The deflector in front isn’t very tall and it’s flat so urine just ricochets off and onto the floor. It’s not as heavy as I would have expected but seems very sturdy. The wipes storage is a great idea. It could be a little better. I like that it has the removable soft cushion ring for on the toilet. I would buy again for a girl, O would not recommend for a boy.
This would be perfectexcept for that one thing. The little gray cushion is shaped as if there were a shield cup in front to protect from the boys stream. But instead it is solid cushion there and his little privates press against it while he goes.
Just received this today. It’s very cute, sturdy. My small 20month old girl though can barely get on it because of the huge bump in the front. When she does sit her feet are not firmly planted on the ground. It’s early to be potty training so I hope she just grows into it.
