I've ordered a few packages of these for my small dog the past couple of months . People should realize these are not chewy , they are more like skinny stringy candy for dogs . That being said , last evening my dog had ingested an entire strip and began to choke . Luckily I was able to pull it out of his throat in one piece before he strangled . I'm going to cut the remainder of the order into smaller pieces , but not likely to order more .
I am not so sure that this treat is right for my collie. She gobbled it down and in 20 minutes her tummy was ready to run outside and poop. The poop was greenish and I am not so sure that it is healthy for her. She tore long strings of tendon from the treat and hardly chewed it up before gulping it down. Now---she might have enjoyed eating it, but unless you are ready to let your dog poop huge gobs of greenish goo--then be ready with the mop if doggie can't make it out to the yard. I bought 2 of the treats but I don't plan on opening the second one for a month.
My dog has had a few of these out of this package but this past weekend when I gave him one, he COULD have choked to death... He somehow managed to try to eat it all and got it lodged sideways in his throat. I had to pull it out myself after hearing him coughing and choking. We are VERY lucky that we had not left the house yet. I would never ever give this unsupervised, even if your dog has eaten in front of you before. This may be ok for smaller dogs who would not be able to do so, but for a large dog who could fit most of it in his mouth IT IS NOT SAFE!
I was hoping that these would last longer, but they didn't. Both GSD annihilated these chews within a few minutes. Due to size, I would have thought they would have lasted longer. The dogs really seemed to enjoy the treats, but they were also very dry and crumbly. The chew would just flake apart as the dogs chewed, leaving a mess on the floor. Yes, the dogs cleaned up their mess but it was still disconcerting to see. Even though the dogs like this chew, it is too expensive as a regular treat.
My dog has been sick for 2 days from this bone. She will not eat or play. She is a teddybear so not no big dog. I would advise anyone interested to please read up on this product. Now today we have a veet appt do to this bone
These need to be soaked in boiling hot water before feeding to dog. If not, they are nothing but plastic bits that rip the stomach causing vomiting and bowel blockage. Learned the hard way. Once soaked for at least 5 minutes, they are limp and actually look like a tendon. Dog chews it up fast so no longevity to speak of. Still my 20 lb pooch likes it and seems satisfied, still not worth purchasing again.
My mini Aussie and my dachshund made fast work of these--each bone gone in 12 minutes, so about a dollar a minute to chew on...and then my dachshund threw it up on my bed an hour later, so not sure if it can be said to be easily digestible, either. The idea is good - natural cartilage, and they must've enjoyed them, but I won't buy again because of the cost and the upset stomach.
My 1 year old Golden took it out of my hand and under 15 minutes it was completely consumed. Not a great chew bone that will last him a very long time like a raw hide, instead, 12 bucks for less then 15 minutes of use which seems way to expensive. I will not be buying another one. Probably cheaper to buy the whole turkey.
These provided a nice chewy snack for Lady. But one day she started acting weird with choking sounds while chewing. I pulled the end of the tendon from her mouth. The whole tendon came out from deep in her throat! It was a very tough piece. I couldn’t even tear it apart so she obviously couldn’t chew it to pieces. Now I’m afraid to give to her. If I do , I will watch her like a hawk. She really did loved these.
