Good, but not with the turmeric version
Reviewed in Australia on 27 May 2020
Fineness: 5/5 - very fine, dissolved well in my latte
Bitterness: 1/5 (almost cannot feel the bitterness) - but at the same time almost tasteless so I cannot taste or smell much tea leaves
Colour: green (4.5/5) + brownish (0.5/5) - in fact it leaves a bit of green colour when touching the stainless steel pot, I wonder if natural matcha is green like that?
Overall quality: 3/5 (with some suspect about the colouring, otherwise 4/5)
The quality is very good, given I have the right tool, e.g. the steam wand on my coffee machine, otherwise no matter what I tried it was challenging to dissolve all the matcha in cold or hot water. I think this is the nature of matcha in general that it is hard to dissolve? This brand is as good as Vahdam - another brand I bought on Amazon so I will buy whatever cheaper between them next time.
I also tried the turmeric version of this brand but it is a failed product - bad quality of turmeric. The smell of turmeric just overrides the matcha flavour and all I can smell is turmeric in my drink. It's not even a good grade of turmeric by the smell of it. A good turmeric is one that's been filtered and extracted a few times from raw ground turmeric and so the smell would be less strong and suitable for drinks, while the raw ground turmeric is more suitable to be used in food like curry. Also I could tell it was not good because after finishing the drink, the turmeric particles stay at the bottom of the cup.
