It has been a few years since I read one of this author's novels. And, I am glad that I found him again.
Just imagine being behind a 20 foot wall for the majority of your life...That is how little Hannah has lived after the H5N7 Virus surfaced. The question remains as to whether or not there really is a cure for this flu outside Deliverance.
This is fast paced novel and action abounds on nearly every page. It is also multi-layered and has an excellent plot. The characters are all 'fleshed' out (some more than others!) and the reader will cheer for some and boo at others. ..just the way it should be in a well-written story.
Buckle your seat belt for this ride of seven days. Tick tock, the clock is ticking!
Most highly recommended and for multiple reasons..
G. Michael Hopf back at it again. Huge fan of his writing. I've been so enthralled lately by the size of his writing package! After envisioning myself in some assless chaps riding a horse into his westerns, (in my mind i look fabulous in those), he just dropped this little nugget of post apocalyptic amazingness! Don't get me wrong...as much as I liked the westerns....they were truly spectacular, i love these apocalyptic novels. i curl up on my couch with a glass of whiskey and think of myself stuck in these mystical stories being shepherded through these horrific circumstances by my recently befriended grizzly of a man. I love these books...can't put them down once i start! So great. Cheers to you G. Michael!
I've waited months for this book and I consumed it like a drug addict. That's what Hopf's writing does. It's addictive. No spoilers from me, all I can say is the plot and the seven days time the father has to save his daughter creates one of the fastest paced books I've read in this genre. A must read for post apocalyptic and survival thriller readers!
Jump into this tale of a plague decimated world with both feet! Well-written and filled with a wide variety of some interesting characters...be prepared to keep reading straight to the end...you won't want to put it down!
This story has the making for a good movie! As I read, I kept looking and petting my dog- assuring myself she would not.....no that would be a spoiler. There are plenty of books written about viruses escaping labs, bio weapons and the like that are good apocalyptic stories, this one is different- trust me- I’ve read plenty (read my reviews). I’ll be honest, I took to reading apoc novels again as CVID-19 (corona virus) was circling the globe and the governor of my state had imposed a stay at home order. Seven Days was the thriller I never expected to keep me awake- it’s happening to us now and I’m scared stiff. I give this book two thumbs up and 5 stars for it is well written, great character development and a believable story line (truly a real life scenario). About the choice of dogs.....sad but again...very believable.
I just finished this read and felt it was an exceptional one! Mr. Hopf has been showing his artistic chops in a variety of venues lately, I've been impressed by all of them. This pulled me in a number of different directions, in the end it was very humanizing, in my opinion.
An excellent story of what could happen if someone unleashed a man made virus into the world as we know it. Cities would die first, the world powers would attack each other’s country and the people would try to save themselves in any way they can. The horrors that this writer has created in his story, we can only hope would not happen. People generally believe that other people are good people, but what if they are not? Do neighbors kill neighbors? Do neighbors take what they want from their neighbors? This writers story makes a reader think. What would I do, if the world we knew suddenly ended.
Like always, the author puts out another great piece of work! I read this book in two sittings. I couldn’t stop. I haven’t read anything by him I haven’t enjoyed; this one was no different. It is an intense novel of a fathers love with some great side stories in it as well to keep it interesting. Hope this book has a sequel because I would love to see the big picture! Buy it! You’ll enjoy this read.
