This product has brought me so much peace. I’ve had seborrheic dermatitis for years now and when I first tried a head and shoulders product, I enjoyed everything but the fact that my hair always felt super dry after using it. Due to that, I stopped using head and shoulders.
My scalp, however, remained unbelievably dry and patchy so after years of not using head and shoulders, I searched online for medicated shampoo for natural hair and voila, I was lead back to the same brand. This line, however, TRULY caters to natural hair. I bought the entire collection and I use it all to its entirety. I alter between the cowash and the shampoo/conditioner every two weeks. I use the masque every time I wash and I use the relief cream every time I flat twist my hair (twice a week). Everything smells lovely and my hair is unbelievably soft every time I use this. Prior to using this collection, I was washing my hair weekly since my scalp couldn’t go much longer, but now, I can go two weeks and my scalp gives me no problems!! It feels wonderful to have a normal scalp! This head and shoulders collection has replaced all my cantu and shea moisture shampoos. If any natural gal has severe seborrheic dermatitis or uncontrollably dandruff, I strongly recommend this line. I pray that this collection never discontinues.
So I tried this because I have dry hair and I also deal with dandruff. Previously I would wash my hair and by day 3, my scalp would already be flaking up. I used this line and I didn't see any flakes in between my wash days!!! My hair was a bit dry after the first use so I decided to pair this with aussie moist 3 min miracle and it's the perfect combination.
I am a white woman with fine, naturally wavy hair. My scalp is pink and extremely dry & irritated and itchy. I have never in my life remember having issues with my scalp like this before but I truly think it’s a combination of extreme stress and a sensitivity I recently developed to volumnizing hair care products. I have searched high & low, I have tried Carol’s Daughter, Wen treatment oil and prescription strength shampoo and a topical steroid treatment but nothing has really worked until I tried this. I know it’s meant for African American hair but this product has really helped this white lady’s scalp. Thank you so much! Relief at long last!!
I don't know if it's been the weather or what, but for at least six months, I have suffered from extremely dry scalp and bad itching. Not to give TMI, but I would sometimes scratch to the point of drawing blood. The dryness and flakiness would affect the skin on my forehead, too. My mom suggested I try Head & Shoulders, and when I saw this one, specifically designed for African-American hair, I purchased it. The first shampooing and conditioning reflected no change, but after the second washing, I was stunned. I had been shampooing/conditioning and RIGHT after it, I was still badly flaky. These products from H&S have kept me from itching or flaking. I went two weeks without washing and had not one flake or one itch. To say I am relieved and happy is an understatement!
Saw An Immediate difference from my first use of this product. For about 2 months my scalp was abnormally and extremely dry and flaky... After one use, I noticed a visible difference. I don't normally write reviews, but this line of products is the real deal! I Definitely will be purchasing again
I've used Head and Shoulder products in the past. I especially like the Deep Moisture Conditioner, it allows me to easily detangle my 3c-4a hair type while in the shower. I've also used the Moisture Care Scalp Soother too. When I found out that there was a line specifically targeted towards black hair care I wanted to try it. The Scalp Cream is water based with the second ingredient being coconut oil. I expected to see glycerin listed but it is not. My scalp favors glycerin. I prefer this product over the Scalp Soother because it is not runny nor does it smell strongly of alcohol. I found that the Scalp Soother was drying to my hair even though it worked on my scalp. This is TOTALLY different. I am guilty of reading reviews and not taking a chance on a product simply because it didn't work well for someone else who might have different body chemistry than me. Therefore, I suggest to at least give this product a chance. You might have to apply it a little more often than once a day, but it does soothe and hydrates. After first use I could tell that I would like this product and will re-order very soon.
When initially looking at this product, I saw the question about which ethnicity it was meant for. I have to say it truly doesn’t matter. I am a Caucasian woman with curly frizzy hair. In the past, Head and Shoulders traditional versions have made my hair so incredibly dry and they do not smell good. This product is the complete and total opposite and it works! After 4 washes, my dandruff is gone and my hair is soft! It also smells so good! I am thinking this will be my go-to product going forward!
(for reference I'm a black woman with medium length hair) I've been having dry scalp/dandruff problems for awhile and nothing I tried helped until now. First wash made the itching stop but still flakes. Washed a few more times and I'm on wash 3 or 4, and I've finally noticed a real difference. Usually after a couple days my hair is almost caked with flakes but this time there's almost none. I can touch my hair and not have it rain flakes everywhere. I feel so relieved. It doesn't make my hair as silky as my other shampoo but it's still soft, smells amazing but not overpowering. I'll stick with this shampoo.
