My optometrist recommended a microwavable moist heat eye masks for my dry eyes but I did not like the plastic smell of the hydrobeads after it is microwaved. This beautiful, soft, and comfy eye mask was the answer! If you don't need the heating function, you can take out the insert and use it as a regular eye mask too. I've also been spritzing a little bit of water on the inside of the eye mask before using and it creates the moist effect like the microwavable ones. The various heat settings and timers are a plus. The highest temperature is comparable to the microwavable ones when it first comes out of the microwave but because this mask is electric powered, it does not cool down. I've fallen asleep using this mask multiple times nows and with the timer setting, I do not need to worry about it throughout the night. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an alternative to the microwavable eye masks.
Perfect, cost effective, alternative to microwave heatable mask for elderly person who is treating dry eyes. Very easy to use. Be sure you have a way to plug in the USB cable for use. I used an old cell phone charge adapter.
I originally rated this product as 5 stars, however after 5 months of use it is not heating properly.
It is not often I am SO pleased with a product I order on line, but this wonderful eye mask is just terrific. My eye doctor told me that I suffer from a condition called "blepharitis," or extreme dry eye syndrome. It causes the glands in your eyes that line the lids to stop producing the oils your eyes need to lubricate properly (who knew?). People like me ALSO can sleep with our eyes a little bit open - something I know I do from funny pictures my family has taken of me doing it.
The result is that normally, when I wake up, it is hard for me to open my eyes, they feel so scratchy and dry. I've taken to use eyedrops in the morning just to get them open and functional.
The eye doctur suggested I try putting a heated damp towel on them for 15 minutes a day, which I did. It was comforting, but did not result in much improvement. I decided to splurge on this device and, after just one night, am blown away! First of all, it is so pretty and well made... when is the last time you wrote that for an Amazon review? The timer and heater settings are just great, as you can put it on at night and fall asleep as I did with no worries. When I woke up, for the first time in DECADES, I was able to just OPEN MY EYES. They felt refreshed! I have not put any drops in this morning. It feels like a miracle!
The only thing I might suggest is if it would be possible to perhaps create comfy, oval disks (maybe made of silicone gel?) that could fit into the little pockets of the shades. That might put a little more (comfortable) pressure on the eyelids themselves, which is right where people like me need it. However, even without that, these shades are just terrific.
Well done, Jason and Julie! This customer is just delighted!
I struggle with Blepharitis. Part of my routine was to apply a hot, wet, wash cloth compress over my eyes as I went to bed and then again before getting out of bed for the day. I had to go to the bathroom sink to run water until it was hot to wet a wash cloth. Then back in bed the wash cloth would drip over my pillow, pajamas, and turn cold quickly. My wonderful, new, eye doctor recommended Silk Heated Eye Mask. What a difference! I can click on the temperature & time I want. I wear it low so it covers my eyes & I gently put my thumb and index finger finger on either side of my nose to press it in a bit. I fall back to sleep beautifully ... and when I do get out of bed I no longer step on a cold wash cloth that I dropped to the ground. A dream come true!
My girlfriend haa been so busy reading/working until really late at night. I've been looking for solutions for sore/dry eyes and although eye drops help her eyes, she complains that they've still been very sore. After getting her this eye mask, she's been pleasantly surprised. She says it really does soothe her eyes and helps her eyes not feel so strained the next day. Now she works comfortably
This mask doesn’t heat up the way I hoped it would. I’ve tried it for a few nights now and it takes a second to heat up and at that you have to press it into your face to really feel the heat. I got this to help with my tension headaches, I don’t think it really gets the heat where it needs to be. Also, sleeping with a wire hanging off of it can be a real choking hazard. I roll around a lot and I’m concerned about the wire.
In short; It’s not horrible. It’s cute. Just doesn’t hug my face the way I wish it would.
I love love love this! My eye doctor had recommended a warm compress to help with dry eyes. At first I ordered a microwavable one that had some sort of seeds in it. Wasn’t crazy about the smell of the seeds and also didn’t like having to go downstairs to microwave it before bedtime. It also didn’t stay hot. So I went back online and searched and found this product. I leave it plugged in next to my bed and I love how you can control the temperature and it’s on a timer. It feels so comfy and I am surprised how much it helps relieve the tensions of the day! And no funny microwaved seed smell :)
Arrived today and tried it out. Now this is the almost perfect mask. No microwave (microwaveable masks go cold after ~5mins), adjustable temp, different timer settings right in the cord and works with the long cord over USB. You need to use the mask-strap because the mask is otherwise to light and that makes it uncomfortable. Great is that you can take out the USB heat-wafers and wash the cover. Missing is the warm weight directly on your eyelids, at least for me. If the USB heat-wafers would heat 2 pouches filled with the material from the microwavable masks as inserts into the washable cover and they would actually lay on your eyes that would be great and no strap even needed, unless you want to sleep with it too.
My eye doctor recommended a microwaveable heating pad for my eyes (for blepharitis), but it would get too hot to be comfortable, then would cool too quickly to be useful. I also tried a damp washcloth in a plastic bag. That was pretty good...better than the microwave product...but then I had this damp washcloth in a plastic bag hanging around. This mask seems perfect. It's soft, comfortable, and relaxing. It's dry, so I can keep it in the drawer by the bed. I find the choice of temperatures helpful and I love that it has a built-in timer. I use a portable powerbank to run it and can take it anywhere. I've only had it a few days but I'm very happy with it. I gave it 4 stars for comfort because I thought that the cutout for the nose could be a bit deeper, but really a very minor point. I'm also impressed that it is made by a family-run company and the owners are not afraid to put their names on the product!
