Coupled this with my new Lenovo PC recently, worked perfectly.Small compact size, also charges PC at same time which is a must for me. Please note that for multi screen application, it has HDMI and Display Port, no VGA oir DVI, but you can buy a adapter cable if needed as i did, DVI to Display port, not costly under $20.00. High recomend this product.
I purchased this Docking station to be used with my main gaming laptop (a MSI Apache with Ubuntu). Plugged into the USB-C port, the Docking station loses connection every 1-2 seconds, and I was only able to get sound to work reliably. Plugged into any USB-A port (using a USB-C to USB-A cord) I was able to get sound and USB ports to work, but none of the video out (HDMI or DisplayPort), or Ethernet. This turned into a very expensive USB hub. I'll be returning the Docking station.
I use it in conjunction with my Razer Advanced 15 (mid-2019?) an PopOS! 19.04 running kernel 5.3.
- Ethernet is detected as a r8152 without issue. - All USB and both Display Ports work. - I have not tried the HDMI port but I imagine it works fine. - Headphone jack works and is detected as a USB sound device (snd_usb_audio)
PopOs/Ubuntu/Linux detect the display port monitors but won't send a signal if the laptop is using Hybrid or the laptops integrated Intel graphics. I needed to switch to the Nvidia card to get the displays to work. The USB ports and the Ethernet still function while using Hybrid or Intel, just not the display ports.
I still use the external power adapter on my laptop because of it's power consumption and haven't enabled or tried charging via the thunderbolt port. Image it would work though.
Works well enough, not as seamless as a TB3 dock. Due to bandwidth limitations with USB-C, has issues if using older monitors that do not support the latest HDMI/DP standards. Make sure to do your research into the Lenovo compatibility charts and specifications.
This product is faulty and causes USB accessories to malfunction when plugged in through the dock. Issues are resolved by plugging USB accessories directly in to the ThinkPad. Will be contacting Amazon and/or Lenovo to hopefully get a full refund, wish me luck!
Love this docking station. Clean looking and allows for my wife and I to switch between our laptops when one of us is working from home. Currently only have the essentials hooked up - monitor, keyboard and mouse. We will be adding another monitor once Boxing Day rolls around.
