The laminator works well: - I homeschool so am frequently laminating. However, it was not packaged for delivery and was sent from the UK to Australia with zero packaging and just postage labels stuck on the product box. Fortunately the laminator itself wasn't damaged. As an aside note, any buyers from Australia will need an adapter plug to use this laminator.
I bought the Style (white option) A3 size laminator as I now have and use an A3 printer. The laminator is easy to use despite the minimalist user guide which just shows a series of pictures with no instructions. You plug it in, switch it on and move the switch on the front to the left for cold lamination pouches and to the right for hot lamination pouches (they're different things). The green light comes on immediately for cold lamination and after about 4mins for hot lamination. Once you've positioned the article you want to laminate in the pouch and the green light is on, feed the pouch, closed end first, into the laminator aligning it to the left of the slot (although this doesn't seem to matter too much if you don't get quite right). The laminator will draw the pouch through and drop it out at the end. The spring loaded lever at the back of the laminator is only for freeing jammed pouches should that occur in which case you hold the lever against the tension of the spring and pull the pouch out from the front.
Now for the tricky bit ! The laminator box states that it will handle 75-125microns but doesn't state whether that is per laminate (i.e. top or bottom sheet) or per pouch (both sheets). This is important as some pouch manufacturers quote the thickness as per laminate and some per pouch so one offering at 125 can be much thicker than another at 150 because the first was per laminate and therefore a total of 250 per pouch and the other was for the total pouch ! Have you lost the will to live yet ?
I have contacted Rexel Customer Support online and they got back to me within minutes (well done Rexel !!) and they have confirmed that their figures refer to the thickness of the entire pouch. Now all you have to do is negotiate the minefield of pouch manufacturer's description of their products. Be aware that some here on Amazon describe their offering as 125 microns but when you look at the image of the packaging it shows 125x2 - in other words each laminate is 125microns and the total pouch is 250microns.
I've knocked one star off of "Easy to use" as the user guide is so minimalist as I've said above but once you've worked out what it all means it's very simple to use and good value for money.
I bought this machine with a pack of TEXET A4 pouches amd they arrived quickly. The first problem is that the instructions are none existent - only a set of 8 confusing photos. The starting point for me was to turn on the machine to heat for 4 minutes. That works well. Now to the so called "pouches" that are NOT actually pouches but instead single sheets which need to be converted into pouches. First you must carefully place your A4 document/photo on one sheet and then align a second sheet so that the edge can be sealed. No matter what I tried I could not seal the edge. I imagined that the edge must be sticky so that a seal can be formed but the edges could not be sealed. I tried several sheets but they all failed. I assumed that the words "seal the edge" must be an inaccurate language choice sso I tried to pass the three part package through thew laminator. The package moves slowly into the hot laminator but since the edges were not sealed the internal document does not remain properly in position. At completion I reomoved the package to find the the two plastic sheets had hardened but the since the edges were not sealed then the document was not encapsulated and the pricess was a complete failure.
I should be most grateful if any purchaser who awarded the device 5 stars can tell me how they achieved their success.
My old laminator died so I bought this as a replacement. It laminates fine but you do need to watch the slow progress through to be able to take your laminated paper out when the last part emerges. I tend to walk away and do something else which is a problem with this machine. The laminated page is not ejected far enough away from the heat source so if left unattended, the last part ejected overheats and ripples.
Not a problem with my old laminator. That would dump the sheet out of the machine, away from the heat source. If you like watching sheets laminate so you can then physically withdraw it - not a problem.
I bought this to laminate some cards I had printed out. It’s pretty small so easy to store but perfect for laminating documents up to A4 size. It takes around 4 minutes to warm up so I would recommend switching it on first then printing and inserting your documents into the pouches while you wait. There are no instructions in the box but it’s pretty simple: switch on, wait for it to warm up and insert the pouch. The rollers start as soon as you switch it on. Perfect for the home office!
Bought as a replacement for a more expensive laminator that I've had years and no longer works. Heats up fairly quickly. Has laminated well printed paper for displays etc, I've also made some homemade games (work with children) card that was a bit thicker I have put through the laminator again to give a proper seal to the laminating pouch. Very happy with purchase. Thank you.
Nice looking and compact - however the one I received didn't work. It heated up OK, but the rollers weren't working, so the item to be laminated wasn't drawn into the machine. I bought this to replace another defective laminator that I am still waiting for instructions how to return. That one, which was much more expensive, did draw in the document to be laminated, but it simply wrapped itself around the rollers and didn't come out the other side, so to receive a second defective machine is doubly frustrating.
Wanted a laminator for home use and checked reviews on this one and decided to buy it. It is a fabulous laminator that laminates A4 sheets easily. The item laminated is sealed brilliantly and sealed right to the edge! I use a much bigger laminator at work and this is just as good.
