The slide out drawer was a good "idea," but a bad design. There is a ~1/8 inch gap between the seat and the drawer. That gap is in a bad place for a bit sitting down. My son has peed on this potty 5 times. 4 of those have resulted in 80% of the pee going through that gap and leaking all over the floor from the inside.
I accidentally left our son's potty at his grandparents after a visit. I ordered this one since it was inexpensive and had good reviews. I have started a return.
I will say that my son loved the handles/back rest and it is study built. Unfortunately it holds pee like a sieve.
The most important feature of this potty for us is that it doesn't have a bowl that lifts up. My daughter loves to 'help' and will pick up a removable potty bowl and slosh its contents all over the house while on the way to flush it in the big potty.
With the back sliding bowl she wasn't able to figure out how to remove the bowl and her room stays pee-free. This potty stays in her bedroom so that if she wakes up early and wants to pee she can go in this potty instead of yelling and waking us early.
I only wish it were heavier so that she wouldn't be able to carry the potty around. We also put a disposable insert/soaker in the bowl to further reduce the chance of pee-sloshing all over the carpet.
Our toddler loves the Independence and the arm rests it is doing its job. It leaks urine everywhere in the bottom though, any miss fire on our toddlers part (not directly to the bottom of the bowl and urine leaks out if the cracks. We've had to set it on a towel to keep things dry.
I like it very much and I would buy it again and even recommended to my friends. The one reason I give it 4 stars is because when my daughter is using it she keeps taking the back off and I have to keep getting up to put it back. Other than that great product.
Nice potty. Height is perfect for my 14 month 30 foot baby. The seat appear comfortable for her petite body, most likely the same for a bigger child. Color plays an elegant look goes well with my mermaid theme bathroom.
This potty is great overall! Very easy to clean and easy for the child to use. It is somewhat low to the ground making it more difficult for a child with long legs to navigate but having the back and sides to hold onto helps make the child feel secure when using.
We just got this and my son has yet to fully use it. It’s really cute. Bigger than I expected but not bad. The opening is an odd shape, of being very long so when my little sits on his he falls back due to little support under him. Not sure we will keep it. I’ll check back in after he starts using it fully
If you have a boy just keep scrolling! Had this chair for almost a month before I donated it. It is literally the worst design ever for little boys. EVEN if they manage to hold down their member and get it in the potty it literally drips through the overlap from the inside where the top meets the tray insert. This chair caused undo frustration by having to clean up urine from the floor nearly every time. Also, the guard for boys isn’t even slightly high enough. Funny enough, I got this thinking the backrest coming off would be good for storage but guess what, it makes it horrible for actually using the potty. Many times I picked it up from the back (as there is no other handle) to have the handle come out and urine go everywhere; not to mention my son pulling out the handle for fun every time he sits on the thing. The handle is not actually secured to the rest of the seat, just sorta sits on top. Literally, save the headache and spend the extra $15 and get the BabyBjorn Potty. The design is WAYYYY better for boys (and trying to stay sane mommas).
It is a sturdy seat and the handles my son likes to use when pushing (lol). However, peeing is a mess. Unless your son is sitting all the way to the back of the seat, when your son pees, the stream will hit the lip and splash everywhere. (Imagine a thumb over a water hose effect) The drawer is useful bc I don’t need to take the whole potty to the bathroom BUT the drawer leaks if your little one doesn’t pee exactly down and thus you have to clean the entire seat bc per is leaking underneath. Cleaning is easy enough but there are one or two little areas underneath that won’t come apart and have pee splash residue.
Overall it’s a good potty chair but maybe for little girls since my boys aren’t aiming/peeing straight down
