Liked the price and flexibility. Unfortunately, the CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum) created some problems. Had a spool of 18ga open but the copper clad burned off while tinning the bare wires leaving only aluminum to work with. Using solder became a challenge so returned the 16ga and 14ga CCA and opted for the same spools but 99% copper. If you were going to use crimps or splicers without solder, this wire would be ideal.
The two wires are not moulded/extruded with sufficient independent definition , so that when you make your initial cut and pull them apart for attachment to the terminals, insulation is pulled from the red wire, exposing bare wire. Tweaking their manufacturing process to rectify this could fix this, but it is a potential problem the buyer should be aware of.
I don't leave a lot of reviews but this product has caused me enough frustration that I felt it necessary. The Red and Black wires are connected, which make it easier to run through the project. My issue is when you need to split the two wires for a connection or need a single strand. The rubber housing is very cheap and even if you start a split with a knife and then pull to separate the two colors the housing tears away and exposes the wire. I have done this same process with another brand bought at a brick and mortar years ago without issue. Tried spitting the wire completely with a Stanley knife and it is difficult to follow the split because the red and black color of the housing do not follow directly with the wire itself.
Wiring to a switch panel for UTV accessories. Looks good but found out that separating red from black to add to panel or to make a power supply, the red side will come apart and leave wire exposed. Using a sharp blade helps, but not 100%.
Looks good otherwise, hut something wrong when this happens
You can't use this wire. Junk Not safe for use. Insulation is the worst. To thin. When you split for connections wire is exposed thru the insulation. I wouldn't even use it as speaker wire. Look for and purchase elsewhere .
I bought 1st roll and was installing in attic ( dirty, painful crawling on 2x4's) when i found cable was too short. The 100 ft roll was stamped 65 foot. Since it was only one with color code and gauge I needed, I ordered another roll. This time it was right length.
When pulling the wire apart, there is some of the conductor exposed in the center. Does this every time. The cable jacket is not very well designed. Also, be aware this is copper clad aluminum, NOT PURE COPPER, so size your circuit accordingly.
Saw some buyers saying the cables ripped when splitting and I’m here to confirm that it’s true. What I did was split cables slowly and if it ripped I would just use some electrical tape to cover it up.
