I was super excited to get this set and while it's great in some ways it falls short in other.
All of the lids have 3 pieces: the mechanism, a silicone layer and a final plastic piece to snap it on place. They seem well designed and constructed, but I'd you're taking apart/putting the whole set together for the first time it can be very tedious. They also take up a lot of space in the dishwasher.
They are dishwasher safe. It indicates top rack only, but i loaded my washer up and put it on a delicate cycle and it everything came out looking pretty good.
The mechanism part of the lid takes a while to dry as there's many spots where water can get stuck.
It looks like it makes a decent seal but you definitely can't lift it by the lid, so be careful of that if you have little kids who like to get in the baking supplies. The seal also looks a bit wonkt in the corners so I hope it's good but I haven't had them long enough to really see.
They do stack up very well and the vertical containers are awesome to put in the tricky corner cabinet we all have. The downside to this is these containers don't have a grab point. Some textured plastic or somethign to grab containers with one hand would have been great.
As I saw in another review the small containers really are too small. Maybe sprinkles or something like that nut even a half bag of mini chocolate chips I had (about 150g) wouldn't fit.
All and all at this price point I feel they should have included the labels and extra goodies like the brown sugar disc and scoops with the set. However, it is a nice set, has a good variety of container sizes and certainly saves some space. Being dishwasher safe is also a huge plus for me.
Will update with pictures and on durability/usability when I've had them longer.
Cons - These are quite expensive. I recently saw that there is a 10 piece set available that, if you bought two, would be still $70 LESS than the 20 piece set, but the sizes don't vary as much if you need that. The price point is a tad ridiculous, especially after seeing that. The lids come apart into 3 pieces, which was a lot to disassemble and clean (x20). If you have old POP containers, the lids have changed, so they won't match up perfectly. I did not, but it's a common complaint I've seen.
Pros - My pantry looks great, and the seal seems sturdy. I love that everything does match, and since they just changed the lid type they shouldn't be changing the design for a while again, meaning buying additional containers will be possible to keep everything unified going forward.
Also, I did have cracks in my order. Amazon customer service refunded me a portion of the price, to put towards replacing those ones. I opted for that rather than a full return and repurchase.
I am a huge fan of oxo products, however was a bit disappointed by this set. There were servers things I love about it especially the amount of different sizes, it’s a true ten pc set. ( they don’t count the lids as separate pieces) however once receiving these, I opened them up to be somewhat underwhelmed by them and the seal on the containers were not that great. I ended up sending them back, as one of the containers didn’t seal at all.
I have a few oxo storage containers and think in general they are an excellent product, but this is the first package of containers I've received where the seal on the lid is not firm and they tend to pop up easily in the pantry.
Sadly, like others here, two of mine were cracked when I unpacked them. I went through all of the effort of unpacking the 3 boxes that this came packaged in (an amazon box, then another cardboard box, then finally the OXO box). Each one looked well packed with plastic and cardboard in between. I unpacked and inspected 18 of them and after going through all of that freaking packaging, sadly, the last two I got to were the ones that were broken. It will be super annoying to repackage all 20 of them and return them all to amazon just to then reorder the same thing and hope none are broken. I've contacted OXO support directly and am hoping to just have them send me two replacements for the broken ones. I didn't think the suction was weak like other reviewers mentioned. If you pull really hard, you can pull off the top, but its definitely air tight and it definitely wont just fall off. 3 star review because 2 were broken and now I'm questioning how durable they'll be (considering how expensive they are). Will update after I hear back from OXO support about replacing the bad ones.
