I chose this brand because A) It has the best rating, and B) it was the most expensive. I assumed the high price was reflective of the quality. You know what they say about assumptions. Yup, they made an a** out of me.
I sprayed the areas in my home that I didn't want my cat scratching. I should back up and explain my cat very rarely scratches anything that she shouldn't, but after I saw her stretching out up the front of my Polk Audio tower speakers one night, I jumped online and bought this after an hour of research.
So back to spraying. I removed the fabric speaker covers from the towers and tried a test spray and let it dry. Test one passed, no staining. So I then soaked both fabric covers and let them dry, the replaced them on the towers. I also sprayed the corner of my couch where the little kitty always stretches out.
So what was the result? Belly laughs from the son and wife when the cat came in the room and was instantly drawn to the new smell. She rubbed her face in it over and over and for a week now, continues to stretch out on the one speaker tower and corner of the couch. She does not scratch or claw at them, but then she never did. But now this smell seems to be permanent (I'm sure it's not) and therefore it draws her to these places far more often. She likes the smell is what I'm saying. I keep looking around for the "punked" cameras...
Our two new cats continually ran throughout out house especially late at night seemingly trying to show the other who was faster. They scratched our leather couch more and more everyday. We bought this product hoping it would end their terror on our furniture. At first it did. We sprayed the couch liberally and the smell, while not pleasant, isn't so bad that you have to leave the room. Thankfully it subsides quickly. They avoided their usual path of destruction along the back of our couch to the raceway previously known as our stairs. However, the cats eventually get used to the smell, and it no longer deters them. So for a quick fix this product works but for a permanent solution, look elsewhere.
The product itself is fine, but the sprayer devise, as is unfortunately true with most of the anti-cat scratching products, is hard to operate. In this case, spray comes out for a couple of squirts and then doesn't come out for a squirt, comes out for a couple of squirts, doesn't come out for a couple of squirts, etc. It is hard enough to cover the entire surface of two large upholstered chairs without having sprayer troubles. The product itself is effective for a couple of weeks before having to reapply, which is typical and to be expected.
This was nothing like what I expected. It had a nice refreshing scent that only lasts for a few seconds. The cats on run from it as I spray it and they are back playing in the curtains, tearing the edges of rugs and climbing on furniture within minutes. I literally had to keep the bottle nearby to catch them in the act and spray it as soon as I get them to back up a little - this was so they could hear it, see it, and smell it. They are clearly annoyed by it, but it’s not strong enough in my opinion. You have to use it pretty often.
Amazing product I sprayed 1 rug I didn't want the cat to continue to tear up...it worked...! I did not spray another rug and. Y cat runs to that rug to claw at all the time and leaves the nice one alone I only used the spray 4x in 3 weeks haven't used the spray in 3 weeks...he is conditioned to stay away. Smell isn't great but the smell doesn't last long.
Update right after writing this review my cat became indifferent to the scent. Not so conditioned to stay away anymore....sad😡
We just built and furnished a home from scratch. Two of our three cats are scratchers, which wasn't a problem in our previous home which was in the country and they could roam outside. I used this product per its specifications, and the only thing I like is the essential oil scent. Sure, it deterred the cats when I sprayed it, but once the mist settled, they were back on the furniture and scratching. I've had much more success with the good old water bottle. Wasted $18. :(
It didn't work with our 4 kittens so it's kind of expensive thing to try and not have it worm. It smells really nice though which is nice for us. But I think it's just the spray sound that scares them.
The sent is very strong and bothers my asthma. I have to open the windows and air out the house. It also bothers my boyfriend who doesn't have asthma. It did not seem to keep the cat from scratching the sofa like the last product I used did.
Although I haven't tried this product yet, I was greatly disappointed when I received the package in the mail yesterday and only received one small bottle of cat spray. The photo in the advertisement and the associated description made it look like a customer was going to receive 3 items for the cost of $18.99. The item I received was a 10 oz bottle of the solution. I don't think I'll purchase this product again. Sorry for the review.
