To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Had these shoes for 2.5 years now and used nearly every day of those with no issues until recently where one of the buckles has broken. Not the shoes fault per se as I’ve been down a couple of times on said buckle. Those reviews string poor fit and/or won’t work with SPD SL cleats are false as mine fit perfectly and mounted the SPD’s no issue with no adapter. Definitely recommend as a first set/spare set of road shoes.
How did these shoes/company get such good reviews? I did my research. I made sure I knew the right size to order based on their chart, even though it was a little off from other shoe charts. I passed on the $120 Peloton shoes which I knew would be awesome to save almost half the price. I waited almost a month to get them, but I figured it had to do with COVID, so I let it go. I received them and they are about 3 sizes too big. And the texture is very plastic and does not appear flexible/pliable, like you would need to spin. When I went to ship them back just to exchange them, they told me it was going to be $250!!!!!!! Like, what???? The description of returns is so vague. It’s free shipping and free returns if you can use the company carrier. But who is that??? And it is guaranteed by Amazon, so I thought it would be okay. I have a file claimed with Amazon and I e-mailed the company. So update to come. Just don’t mess with this company. Not worth the hassle.
Fit is a little loose on the width of the 9.5, but close enough. So far so good on function. These are NOT compatible as-is with 2 bolt SPD cleats, even though the slots are built into the sole. However, I purchased a separate adapter that can be inserted under the insole to allow regular SPD cleats to be used.
I’ve learned for me a slightly larger shoe size works better. As a female women’s cycle shoes also tend to fit narrower and doesn’t leave room for the expansion of the foot as you press down on the pedal which puts stress on the arches of the foot, these are perfect so far.
Also they tighten really well so that my ankles aren’t rotating too much (I have a pair of botranger and my ankles did not feel any support at all. Although it’s the type with the wire tighteners)
One note, They don’t come with the clips so you have to buy them.
They seemed to be a little small in the length at first, but not unmanageable. I wear anywhere between a 9.5 and 10.5 US, and I ordered the 10.5 to be safe. My toes felt a little cramped. After a few rides, that took care of itself. I'd say the saize is fine.
The shoe tongue is a little stiff and digs into my ankle a bit. I suspect it might soften with time.
The latch can only be ratcheted down so far before it starts skipping teeth, which isn't as robust as my older, Sidi shoes. It seemed sufficient, although I might have liked another click or two.
My wife really likes these shoes. However, we could not get the standard screws/washers to engage the threads on one of the shoes. I was able to substitute some thinner, all-purpose washers and get the cleats installed, but I'm not sure how long that solution will last. Perhaps the pressure of the cleat will bring the threads a little closer to the shoe sole surface. Otherwise, 5 stars.
First time indoor bike rider here...very happy with my decision! I was looking for a nice, solid pair of cycling shoes that would be compatible with an indoor bike and these ended up being perfect! The only downside here is the shipping — it took quite some time to make it across the works to the East Coast! If you need shoes immediately, maybe not your best choice — but if you can be patient, are looking for some style and versatility, and can wait a few weeks — then I highly recommend trying these! I am typically a 10.5 in men’s shoes and these fit just as expected.
