I’ve had this monitor for 3 months now and I like it for the most part. It detects everything it says it does, and it’s super cute. Love that it can be used for more than a crib camera as well, since it’s able to be placed on a table with the camera pointing towards the room.
My major concern is that there is a chance it can disconnect due to app or wifi problems. This happened while I was sleeping and I thankfully woke to my baby crying through a few rooms away as the app lost its connection and didn’t reconnect on its own. When you’re sleep deprived, it’s hard enough to wake from the crying through the app/monitor, let alone getting woken up from faint noises down the hall. I had to buy a cheap backup, battery operated, noise only monitor while I sleep for ease of mind. They need to have it automatically reconnect, not something you have to manually click in the app.
Another annoying thing is that it’s constantly in night vision. If I have the lights on in the nursery at night it’ll still be in night vision. If it’s daytime but the curtains are closed (still decent amount of light in the nursery), it’s in night vision mode. Not the biggest deal, but it’s nice to take some pictures or videos through the app when it’s not always in black and white. It seems like the room has to be super bright for the app to display in colour.
I have nothing to compare this monitor to, but it does a good job for the most part.
Updated review- 6/4/20 This is a great monitor when it’s in working condition. Last week the Cubo had some major live stream issues. For me (allegedly each user had different issues) my live stream Completely stopped working during our bedtime hours but the AI detection continued to work perfectly. The sound also worked/works while having no live stream. Cubos customer service responded to my inquiry that they had a server overload and the engineers are working on resolving it. They alleged it is because so many new users are now on Cubos app. It is my understanding from Cubo that they have updated the app and submitted it to the App Store and we can upload it in 2 days which should resolve the live streaming issue we are/were having.
As you can see from the recent 1 star reviews, users are pissed off about not having a reliable live stream. We DID HAVE a reliable stream until this issue just last week. This is a new product. There are a few kinks, but it’s clear Cubo is working on perfecting the app and streaming for all users. I am hopeful the next update will resolve the live stream issue. The other benefits of this monitor outweigh the random kinks that pop up. The rollover and face covered detection is so useful for us. The color quality of the stream (when it’s working) is so clear and crisp. The night time mode is also very clear and I can easily see what my baby is doing while it’s completely dark. The fact that it comes with 3 separate stands is the best bang for your buck. We are currently using the floor stand. It comes with a crib clip and a wall mount in case when and if you want to use the others.
The look of the Cubo is beautiful. It’s a tiny white bird that sits above my baby’s Snoo. It’s classic and matches perfectly with most decor.
I end this review with saying- I would recommend this product. Be patient. It’s getting better. I still like it more than the other monitors I’ve researched, despite its kinks that have been far and few (but the live streaming issue was big for me). Once the app has been restored and live streaming is resolved, I will Update my review (should be set by 6/5/20).
6/1/2020- THIS PRODUCT IS FAULTY. THE SOFTWARE IS STILL BEING WORKED ON. WE HAVE LOST STREAM NUMEROUS TIMES THIS WEEK ONLY FOR SUPPORT TO TELL US THAT THE ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON IT. I CANT RISK NOT HAVING A MONITOR IN WORKING CONDITION FOR MY NEWBORN. THERE IS A DELAY iN THE STREAM AS WELL AS THE SOUND OF ABOUT 5 seconds which is fine. But completely losing stream to my child is unacceptable.
I’ve been using this monitor for a few days now and so far I really like it. I love the video quality, I love that I can zoom in on the picture to make sure my LO is breathing. The temperature and humidity levels appear to be on point. Some things that need to be improved, when the camera and app get disconnected while the app is open it doesn’t reconnect on its own. Several times I have woken up in the middle of the night with the app open and a message on the screen telling me that it’s been disconnected and that I need to press a button to reconnect it. This is a HUGE design flaw and something needs to be addressed and fixed immediately in my opinion. It should reconnect on its own without the user having to do anything. It does worry me and make me feel like I need to spend more money to get another audio monitor just in case this one disconnects while I’m sleeping and LO is crying. Please fix this Cubo.
Updated: customer service put out an alert that because they were experiencing higher than expected volume, their server couldn’t support the activity. It took about a week for things to return to normal and haven’t had an issue since. They continuously kept me up to date with timing of the fix and asking if my issue has resolved. Updating to 4 stars.
In the first 10 days and 3 of them were unable to use the live feed at night - when you actually need to see your baby. The alerts were alright - if your baby wears mittens, the “covered face” alarm goes off a lot and if there’s any other light source in the room, the “baby is out of crib” goes off when they’re not in the spotlight. I turned off the additional light and took off the mittens and that seemed to solve that issue, but it still gave false alerts. When I had the product for ~3 days, they sent me a review form and I rated 4 stars because of the sensitive alerts. They immediately contacted me and asked how they can improve. I thought this was a phenomenal way to provide customer service. Overall, you’re able to control the alerts (on/off) and hear the baby when the screen is not on which is a plus. Really cute over the crib too!
The monitor itself is great. Picture quality is also really nice. It can be a little annoying when the lighting in the room isn’t sufficient enough to keep it in day time setting so often the camera with switch back and forth between the night vision. The audio is a little delayed but to be expected with a live feed. The mobile monitor stand is great and easy to attach the monitor to however the floor stand is a pain to attach to the monitor. We absolutely hate having to detach it for this reason. Honestly if you’re looking for a great monitor and don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money this is worth it.
Cuts out white noise but heard other random noises. The notifications were pretty flaky. I wanted to make sure that I could hear my baby before she woke my toddler. Unless I used the background noise option, I wouldn't trust it.
Also, I started feeling like I had to watch what I wear when I went in to talk with my toddler while it was on. Some of my videos were corrupted and when I contacted tech support and let them know, they asked for the time stamps.... Leading me to believe they have access to my video content. This and the notifications led me to decide it was more than we needed and returned it.
It’s a great monitor! I love the automatic pictures feature, cry alerts, and covered face alerts. I would’ve given it five stars if it didn’t have a couple of seconds lag and if it could recognize and notify me when my baby wakes up. She doesn’t cry when she wakes up, she just babbles, shrieks, and plays with her stuffed elephant and feet, so unless I have the background sound on, I have no way to tell if she’s awake. I don’t know if this feature could be added in the future, but it would be nice.
Love the features on this camera and the price is affordable. There were some issues recently but they were resolved relatively quick and they alerted the Facebook community about what was taking place. Great company from what I've experienced.
