When I bought a hammock, I was pretty surprised to discover that finding the right hanging kit for it was really difficult. I was extremely paranoid about hanging it improperly; I'm putting it on my back deck and I like to have parties. I kept imagining a rambunctious guest who may have had one too many throwing their weight on it, only to have it rip out of my siding and land them on the deck. This is an unlikely worst case scenario, but either way, most of the kits out there that I found just came with basic wood screws and were not inspiring any kind of confidence in me. When I found THIS kit that's rated 1000lbs+, and came with big fancy bolts, I knew this one would work.
A tip if you're also planning on hanging a hammock .... hang it higher than you think. I got a macrame-style one and it has way more stretch than I was anticipating, so when I hung it and sat on it for the first time, I was literally sitting on the floor. I re-hung it about 12" higher than the original anchor points, filled in the old holes with some spackle to hide my shame, and then slowly, cautiously .... triumphantly laid in my new hammock. The bolts didn't budge and the carabiners hang smoothly with no grinding, even when swinging slightly. Super happy! I might eventually buy a second set if I want to have another hanging zone.
This set is perfect for setting up a hammock mount. I've been having shoulder/back/neck pain every morning upon waking. I know it's our bed, but money for a new bed isn't in the cards right now. I looked for alternatives and found many folks mentioning sleeping in a hammock can help. This set looked promising so for under $12 I figured it was worth a try. It was easy to install (I used the wood screws and fixed one into a wall stud and the other into a solid wood door frame). So I can't speak for a concrete installation, but the expansion bolts look solid and I wouldn't have any pause using them. The caribeners and mounts are incredibly solid as well, I'm a big guy at 300 lbs and I've been sleeping in my hammock for 5 nights now without any issues (and woke up with no pain the very fist morning and every day since!). I'm actually ordering a second set so I can have a mount in another room in the house. Would 100% recommend for any hanging/mounting needs within the prescribed weight tolerance of the set.
I like it that it has 4 bolts on each side and after installing them on the 6x6 posts it was holding tight. I wish they had mentioned what size drill bit to use for pre-drilling.. luckily I had some spare pieces of wood lying around.. tested couple of bits till I felt comfortable with one. Forgot what size it was. Will update the review later.. I probably need to get some extra hooks as I hung the hammock a bit high about 6 to 8 inches higher than I wanted to be. Since it is outdoors will see how it stands up to test of time and weather
I bought this to hang my outdoor hammock chair and I definitely reccomend it. It's sturdy and the screws are long so definitely feels safe. These screws require a special key because they have flat heads and that doesn't come in the box.
If you are drilling into concrete, I recommend lining up 2 holes first and drilling and then realigning and drilling the second 2 holes one by one. I was only able to get 3 out of 4 bolts in but that was my fault for not measuring better. Great purchase!!!
