As an avid outdoorsman myself these types of book always appeal to me. Reading it makes me wonder how I would cope if the world came to standstill which is apt as I’m reading this in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic! Loving these books and looking forward to book 3
I have enjoyed the story line of this series. Have also read Book 3 and am awaiting Book 4. I would prefer to have all the books available at the same time due to the amount of books I read on an annual basis. I sometimes have to go back to refresh my memory of the story if it takes a while to publish the next installment.
Jack Hunt does it again in this continuing saga of Landon trying to get back to Maine with Beth's help and survival skills. There is a lot of action, good survival info, some bizarre sub-plots (Robbie was good one), and also a peek at how Landon's wife Sara and son Max are doing in Maine. Without power, the landscape is littered with chaos and disorder. But on the Trail and in Maine both groups survive, barely. We see slow maturity with Landon and a creeping closeness between Jake and Sara. I like this genre and Mr Hunt has provided a very good addition to the authors I will continue to follow. I was definitely entertained!! Now on to book three.
So here we are. On the Appalachian Trail still with at least a thousand miles to reach home in Maine. With danger all around, Beth and Langdon and now a stranger in their mists. Is he a friend or foe? I am going with foe!!! I really need the next book....like now!!
Escape one crisis, then race away searching for safety. It was like Groundhogs Day. Every time they thought they were in a better situation, that the new person they had met was someone they could trust. Boom, it would blow up in their faces. Would they ever reach a more secure location?
For God's sake Jack, let Landon and Beth have a win every now and again. Sure they prevail in the end but 6 months into an apocalypse they have to look at everyone with the the thought "Crap, another notch" on my gun stock . Overall a cannot put down until finished read. Excellent.
