My boys (11 & 9) both have an Occulus Rift S and these covers are important. The OR comes with a foam padding around the eyes which is not able to be removed for cleaning or replaced. They fit on easily and stay on. They are comfortable on their smaller (than adult) faces. One of their friends has used his OR without a cover and the foam has become smelly and stiff from sweat. Gross. He has now bought one of these covers too.
This is a silicone im going to say liner that fits around the edge of you Rift S face frame the parts that touch your face its seems to work well making it easy to clean after use, havent got much else to say other than it works
Right.. long story short... i got a Rift S..ignore the cable (Noone cares)..This thing is floppy rubber that goes over ur standard foam padding.. There's reviews here saying it makes it cooler...(It dont it just makes it less sweaty cause the thing now sticks to ur face like glue).
That's NOT BAD though.. cause once the eye glass warms up to your temp it's not too bad and the silicone makes it stick pretty well.
Still similar sweatyness as normall just you think it dont happen but it does. First time i wore this Silicone cover.. i was blinded for 15 mins of fog.. at which point you have to wear it or remove and wipe lenses clean..but it happens cause the glass is colder that the air from ur face..so just hold out and it'll clear in 15 mins ..( i have microfibre cloths) and i chose not to touch the glass from fear of scratching it.
When warm it's not too bad but i had it off for nearly 2 hours now and my skin feels a bit sore,... maybe cause the silicone rubbed against it..
long story short..with the silicone..u may need it on for 10 mins to reduce steaming..after that it will be fine..but may irritate ur skin...but still ..
Im putting it on top of the stock foam so it last longer and if i endure 1 yr silicone and have brand new foam underneath then result
Feels good and soft to use! Works perfectly here 9-ish months later. It’s very easy to clean as sweat doesn’t sink into the material. Only downside is that sweat will drip onto your face if you don’t wipe it once in a while. I play beat saber, so I have to quickly wipe it every 4 songs or so. Still, very happy about the purchase!
I'll start off by saying, it's not what I expected at all but here we go with the review anyways. The pictures made me think it came with a hard insert that the silicone sleeve would attach to, but this is not the case. It's just a floppy, loose, extremely thin layer that sits on top of the existing fabric padding. Thus, it doesn't sit in place as much as I'd like. The felt lens protector however, is nice and rigid and fits snugly when not in use.
Comfort: the silicone sleeve makes the headset SLIGHTLY more comfortable, but you'll still feel discomfort on your forehead after about an hour of use.
I haven't experienced any fogging or the headset shifting around when moving and looking around quickly.
Value: It's a total rip off; it's just a paper thin layer of extremely cheap silicone, NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Save your money and look for legitamite replacement padding made of leather or something similar if you want to actually increase comfort.
Easy to clean: this is the only thing this product does well. When I'm done, I just give it a quick wipe with an antibacterial wipe and it's good to go.
But due to existing products that can do the same thing while not being a waste of money in the other departments, this only gets 3 stars IN COMPARISON.
Goes over the existing foam which should help keep it clean if you're planning on re-selling or sharing with someone else. The nose flappy fabric part on the Rift S still touches your face and gets greasy though (if you're greasy) :P
I think the original foam is a bit more comfortable vs the feel of silicon on your face. It's nice and soft still, so it's not bad.
Also comes with a little bonus, I got a lens cover to protect the lenses against damage or sunlight when the device is not in use.
