My only problem was that many of the reactions of the two folks on their journey north were not thought through very well. Considering the difficulties, conditions and general mayhem, several of their responses didn't seem plausible. Overall it was total mayhem so maybe I'm being picky, because there haven't been a lot of EMP's encountered in my past. I did enjoy the three books and would recommend them, though normally I don't like to be trapped into trilogies.
The characters Landon and Beth both grow in grace, grit, and skill as they hike the AT from NC to ME. Their encounters on the trail and in the towns are mostly harrowing, but there is always some good. Those who have planned ahead for emergencies and know how to cooperate with others offer some hope for the future in a more primitive and difficult world. Can't wait to see how things turn out in Maine.
Again, the author kept my interest....and this one was probably the best of the series so far. I have enjoyed tagging along with the two main story-lines as they develop (no hints from me!!). So far, I have enjoyed it and my wife just got after me to hurry up and order #4! LOL
This series is really good. One thing I find a problem with. You need to research 1st aid for a snake bite. You NEVER elevate the bite ABOVE the heart. That just allows the poison to get to the heart. Please keep the bite BELOW the heart. Other than that, enjoyed your books.
