To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I was really excited about this product until I received it. It is not consistent on the measurements even after the calibration was set. Kept getting different readings from the same object back to back. And no of them was correct according to actual weight. A quarters correct weight is 5.67 and a penny 2.50. The lid is heavy and can corrupt accurate measurements.
This is another one of those looks “rugged” products. It uses weak magnets to keep the lid closed, but if you flip the scale over, the lid will open under its own weight. The hinges are extremely loose and gritty and just further the overall feel of “cheapness”. I purchased this as a ruggedized alternative to the standard pocket scale. The chintzy lid pretty much cancels that out. Save your money and just get one of the cheaper pocket scales and keep it in a ziplock.
Excellent scale. Accurate. Small magnets keep the lid closed. Out of the box it was weighing .03 under, calibration with the included wieght was quick and simple. If your thinking about saving a few bucks and getting one of the $10 scales, spend the extra and get this one you won't be disappointed.
Scale arrived on time and was accurate right out of the box. Scale turns on quickly. Bright backlit display is relatively large and very easy to read. By resting the protective scale lid upright (90-degrees) against the back of a counter (or other stable object), a standard #10 business envelope can be stood on edge (leaning against the lid) and the envelope weight measured accurately. The small scale size might not allow an envelope to lay flat for weighing, but a pocket size scale is more desirable than the ability to lay an envelope flat on a larger scale. Just stand the envelope on edge, it works great!
I work at a university and just measured the 50g calibration mass. I used a Mettler Toledo covered balance that was calibrated two days ago by an organization that calibrates hospital, scientific, government, and school equipment and the mass came in at 50.000008g!! Since this little $18 balance can be calibrated to the given mass this is a fantastic little device worth it's mass in whatever you can measure with it! This thing is accurate to 10mg and that is probably good enough for most people. I will trust it's accuracy.
