Crying with joy right now ! After sanitizing I finally get to use them and I've been waiting so long for the 13s to be available as I've messaged before because I have the other maymom brand but the next size up which is 15 which just to say was a tad to big for me but I had to make it work.. The 13 wasn't available for few years. I'm having more success now that I have a proper flange that fits me because after massive weight loss I classify in the "itty bitty titty committee" or it can very confusing because my nipples are way smaller than my areolas. I use them with my Medela pump in style breast pump and it is so much more comfier to pump now as I exclusively pump. You watch all those videos on how you're supposed to pump properly and such and it's nice to look down and see that I am pumping properly because I finally found the right size for me. Super happy and super satisfied. The maymom brand is a lifesaver for your wallets and your breast milk. 5 stars :)
Apparently I belong to the group of breastfeeding moms who has larger breasts and small nipples. Hence the need to look for a flange with the fit less than 19mm. However, the opening is so small that i have to "shove" breast tissue into the opening to achieve a proper seal for the pumping. To my understanding, this can mean that parts of the breast are hindering the ducts and it is very uncomfortable (and time consuming and frustrating) to have to push in a lot of the breast tissue. This means that the pump can't be used with the bra effectively because you have to push against the body quite a bit, to achieve suction while handsfree. I wish they made the opening a bit more like the Medela ones to let the breast ooze into the "cone part" of the flange.
I use this on my Lansinoh manual pump while my baby nurses on the other side during night feeds to relieve engorgement. They also fit on the electric double breast pump. The quality is amazing! I have Medela brand flanges as well and they have sharp edges (so when I massage during pump sessions to get the milk out more efficiently, they are uncomfortable on my breasts); these Maymom flanges have smooth edges so I much prefer these! I love all of the side options offered from this brand as the 1 or 2 sizes most brands offer is for a lot of women not enough.
These seem to be a better fit for me in comparison to my medela ones but they don’t feel great on breast. The medela ones have a soft rubber all around them which makes it comfortable but these are just straight up hard plastic. They end up hurting my breast by late afternoon. Wish they would make the edges softer so they would be a bit more gentle on the breast. Also the tunnel seems to be a lot longer than the medela ones. I don’t know if it has to do with the size of the flange.
I was so happy to find a flange that fit and at first I loved it. The more I used it, especially with a hands free pumping bra, the more I would feel pain because there’s no cushion around the edges. I tried with so many things like tape and thin cloth to try and put between my skin and the edge but it still was too painful.
The product works, suction is good, and my output has increased. HOWEVER, big breasts are not meant for this… I have to almost shove some of my boob into the flange in order for my nipple to be suctioned appropriately with milk output. In doing this, the edges of the flange really pinches the breast. I’ll probably get another brand so I can be comfortable pumping.
They should be clear that it doesn’t fir flexstyle freelite medela. I didn’t like that it didn’t have suction when i bought this as replacement for original but i guess there is no valve there so it doesn’t suck. My medela is flexstyle freelite. I hate that they dont have clear instructions and manual for the same. I am returning my product.
Got them today and used them for the first time... one of them must be defective because when I twisted the connector off to put the milk into a bottle, part of it twisted along with it... so it pretty much almost broke right at the narrow end before the connection. Very disappointing because otherwise these were perfect. I hope seller will send me another one...
