Very disappointed, it has no stability, even with putting it right again the wall. Every time our kitten tried to use it, it wobbled and scared her. She now wants nothing to do with it. I have been an Amazon customer for many years and this is the first product that I have been disappointed with
I was sure there was a mistake. No way was the sisal scratching post in that little box. Well I was wrong. They managed to get it in there. 2 aspects concern me. 1 The sisal rope is a very narrow rope. I believe that my cats will claw thru it in short order. 2 The base is small and lightweight. They have tipped it over many times already. It doesn't do much good lying on the floor. It's otherwise nicely made, but the 2 fatal flaws are deal breakers. For a small cat, this would likely be fine. But I have full grown cats and they are used to a standard size post. I suspect I will be returning this one.
The base is made of possibly the cheapest particle board I've ever gotten with a scratching post, and it comes divided into two bits that fold, and you're meant to screw it in between these halves with a giant washer to hold it together.
The unnecessary strain of the washer putting pressure on the already weak particle board leads to a very short life span for this post. Simply put, your cats are *going* to climb it, so inevitably they are going to wrench the post around until it just rips the board apart.
Additionally, the soft fabric just sort of comes off. My cats ripped all of the soft fabric off of the middle area within a week. This didn't bother me too much, but it did reveal that the column is made out of cardboard. This construction is unbelievably cheap.
We have a 7 lb and a 12 lb cat. They were on the tree once and got right off. Our 12 lb couldn't even turn on the shelf and fell off, making the whole tree really shake. Our 7 lb just doesn't like it. We've had it up since June, even moving from different favorite locations for them. The only thing they do is play with the leaves on the bottom. It's cute, really adds something different. Unfortunately, not for our furbabies. Will most likely take to humane society.
Our cat showed no interest. She likes to scratch so not sure why she doesn't like this product. The toy quickly came off with one inquisitive swipe. She hasn't shown any interest beyond that one exploration swipe.
