To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
First of all, it shipped with no games preinstalled. It appears that games must be on an external card, and it did include an empty case for a TF card in the box, so I have to assume that someone swiped the TF card before shipping. Strike one.
Tried some NES and Genesis games. Emulation was so slow that the games are playable, but only just, and it's a horrible experience. Strike two.
I was willing to overlook all of this as I had purchased this primarily to be a MAME machine. Only a small range of games actually plays well - the original TMNT was fine, but Turtles in Time had the same slow emulation as the console stuff, which is shocking because my anemic dual core Mac Mini from a decade ago had better performance. The screen is high brightness and low contrast so the games don't look very good. There is no way to control either of these things. There is also no way to access the internal MAME settings to affect things like controller sensitivity, axis inversion, or DIP switch settings. Strike three.
Less than 3 days after unboxing the USB port shorted out, so I couldn't even access any games. You're out. This item is being returned and never ordered again.
