To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Pretty much fantastic from start to finish. The remastering holds back on the dreaded “brick wall” & takes the slight hazy veil on the original CD’s off most of the tracks. Good packaging, not much information about the band during the years covered, but plenty of stuff is on the internet should you wish to delve deeper.
One problem: perhaps the best track in the box, and certainly my favourite, “Hypnotized”, from the “Mystery To Me” CD, has some rather nasty glitches at around 16 seconds & 21 seconds. These are apparent whether the CD is played through a CD player or PC. These glitches are definitely not on the original CD issue. I’d be interested to know if others who’ve purchased the box have found the same. Due to these glitches I’m considering returning the box to Amazon as faulty, a quality issue.
This review is of the box set as a package, not the music. I was keenly anticipating this box set and expecting it to include some interesting biographical information about this “in between” period of Fleetwood Mac in an accompanying booklet. There is in fact only a flimsy pamphlet listing the tracks on each cd. The individual cd’s are nicely packaged in cardboard replica sleeves. The quality of the sleeves is ok but not stunning. No writing on the spines, and in my set the Kiln House cover has a crease caused by misfolding. This box set is competitively priced at just over £30 so maybe my expectations were unrealistic. I’d happily have paid more for a classier production.
