Domestic Violence can come in many forms. Sadly, there are many men who become silent victims, too ashamed and embarrased to seek the help they need. I wish that Men who are victims of DV realise that reporting it and seeking help actually makes them stronger and could encourage other men who are victims of DV feel confident enough to seek help
Two beautifully written stories about real life occurrences. The first book deals with a rape, and the second book deals with abuse. This author has written with a compassion and understanding, and the characters really come to life. Also the clear descriptions of the countryside makes one feel as if they are in that place. Highly recommend these books.
NORTHSTAR BEGINNINGS is a collection of two books that start off a new series.
1) FIRST INSTINCT is a story about a young woman that was raped at college by a boy she thought was her friend. The rape was brutal. The young man was ego driven, big jock on campus, etc. She was saved by another young boy that was her friend also. All three came from the same town. Upon breaking the door down to save his friend, he then beat the boy to a pulp. She decides to not report the attack. (naturally a big mistake but this happens more often that anyone wants to admit). The story deals with how she handles and recovers from the attack and how she goes on from there. It is a very interesting read and every girl leaving for college should read. Just to be aware. Good story.
2) MOUNTAIN ANGEL-Story of two wounded souls. Pat, 29 a detective with the Sheriff's dept. in Washington State, had a very bad break-up. As a young 20 something lad he fell for a rich older woman. She was something of a psycho but being young he didn't realize it until it was almost too late. He broke things off and in a temper fit she stabbed him. It has been 2 years and he still hears her harsh voice in his head. She used all of it to control and keep him tied to her. Aelissm/Aeli is a very independent young woman, very talented, smart, etc. She was dating a wealthy ego driven fellow. She refused to have sex with him so he attempted to rape her, it was brutal. Their friend in another room heard her screams and he came to save her. He chocked their friend until he passed out. They left to get away and later the boyfriend died of a brain aneurysm. So he was not charged with any crime. However, in that moment he sort of snapped and became a little off in the head and now he is convinced she is the love of his life and he is stalking her. Once her good friend and now her worst nightmare.
She went from a outgoing friendly person to hiding and scared to death. Her uncle, the Sheriff, had his detective and friend Pat go to Northstar, Montana to protect his niece and end the stalking. This is their story and how they saved each other. Lot of good side characters. Good read.
I was not paid for these reviews. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/28/2020
I liked the style of this storytelling. The main characters are young but mature in college, and then in the second book, they are several years into their careers. The two books can each stand alone as they concentrated on different individuals from Northstar. These characters are not perfect, but honorable. They overcome large problems as they grow and develop as a couple.
This book was great 👍.This book had two stories in the series with No cliff hanger. But it starts a third book but does not finish it,they want you to buy it.I recommend this book.I would give it more than five stars.
Great read, lots of twist and turns to keep you guessing . If you are like me and live reading, you proud yourself on trying to guess the plot early into the story., halfway through, and hope to triumph by the the end by guessing correctly. Did not happen.
