How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsWell written with clear messages
Reviewed in Australia on 28 November 2021
I think this book is quite well written, easy to read yet still has much to take away from, I read a lot of books like this, and while no idea is original now anymore, it doesn't feel like it's just a compilation of tips from other books, I really enjoyed reading it and putting some of the things outlined in the book into practice. I would recommend this book.

2.0 out of 5 starsDidn’t find anything new here
Reviewed in Australia on 9 October 2021
The central message of simplifying your life is a valid one. But I found the book empty, cliched and overselling itself. I was playing pop psychology bingo by the end of the first chapter. “Unburden your heart”, “get rid of your toxic thought patterns”, “look for easier solutions”. Bored by the end of the second chapter. Maybe things get better after that but I doubt it. Perhaps a book for those who haven’t read any self development books before, but I didn’t find any new ideas here.

1.0 out of 5 stars A late-night TV infomercial in book form
Reviewed in Canada on 13 May 2021

Truly awful. Remember late-night TV infomercials? This book is no different: a heartfelt tale of personal discovery, repetitive presentation of simplistic ideas, and even a link to a website (the "Essentialism Academy") which offers additional online whatever for additional $$$. This book has undermined my belief in my own good judgment -- I cannot believe I got taken in by such rubbish.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality paper

Product received damaged cover and paper quality very poor brownish and look & feels like poorly recycled tissue paper. Preordered this book and am left feeling very disappointed. The book itself, is an excellent one. The good part of this poor quality is that I can scribble notes on it without feeling bad.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of time - nothing but cliches
Reviewed in the United States on 1 May 2021

This book is terrible. It's nothing but a bunch of cliches and platitudes strung together. Don't waste your time. I bought it expecting something actionable - instead, it's a bunch of disconnected and oversimplified stories with vague and unusable principles following them.

As others have pointed out, it’s just a collection of anecdotes and cliches. Don’t waste your time.

Stories about Warren Buffet and the 23 billion deal with Walmart was taken from the book "Fast Trust"
It reads better on fast forward: nothing new, decently written but a bit empty

1.0 out of 5 stars Old, well-tread concepts relabeled and presented poorly
Reviewed in the United States on 27 May 2022

Waste of time and money. It's an endless string of old, well-known concepts (ex. Next Actions, Pomodoro's, leverage, habits) relabeled to sound original.

I can tolerate that IF the author presents the old concepts well. I don't mind a refresher.

Unfortunately, they are somehow presented both verbosely AND simplistically. I'm amazed that someone can be incredibly wordy AND simplistic at the same time.
