5.0 out of 5 starsA scary world
Reviewed in Australia on 19 October 2021
During lockdown I have read dozens of who dunnits. This was another one - although there was no butler and it was much more complex. As a result of reading it I have learned:
1. We live in a scary world where much is happening that we did not know about.
2. It is difficult to know who to trust. Scientists are shown to be self serving not scientific, journalists are taken in by lies, - where can we get information from.
3. America is a mess. Agencies meant to protect the world are controlled by people whose interest is in survival, not truth. Trade agreements are more important than truth. Hatred of Trump skews everything and Biden,s America is unravelling.
4. Scott Morrison and Australia come out looking better than most because they took a stand.
5. The idea that China is getting stronger and more powerful is frightening.
Thanks to Ms Markson for her hard work on this book. It was hard for a non scientist to read but she did a good job making complex material accessible to people like me.
It doesn’t take the hurt out of lockdown but at least I now know what caused it. And I am concerned about the safety of the world my grandchildren will inherit.

This reads in long sections like a crime novel. Clearly argued and documented as best as a journalist can when faced with Chinese intransigence, the opportunism of US and other health research organisations and a corrupted WHO. This book inspires hope that eventually the truth comes out. It inspires fear, however, that gain-of-function research on viruses will lead to bio weapons of a potential ten times as disruptive as Covid-19. The book should be a clarion call to Western governments to focus on this new danger.

I love that this book makes you consider how deeply society is influenced by politics, the media, and general social viewpoints.

In addition to the content that is brilliantly presented and explained this book carries a further message to all humans about our society and overall philosophies of life.

A definite to read and think about as to how to best improve humanity for the future.

This is an exceptional piece of investigative journalism. It did not start out as a preconceived premise but rather followed the natural progress of the evidence to come to a legitimate conclusion of profound possibility. It reveals extremely disconcerting complicity by those that we should have had confidence in in the political, scientific, media and security sectors to make the truth known but instead have worked against the people’s of the world.

Thank you Sharri Markson for your invaluable contribution.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE WORLD NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK

This is a book that should be read by everyone, especially the leaders of our nations, leading scientists and all media.
It provides enormous circumstantial evidence of the origins of COVID-19 that are hard to refute.
Whilst it is not pleasant reading and may leave the reader with a sense of dillusionionment with the human race, it is essential reading.
It is a long book and full of scientific language, but the author is able to convey her meaning in terms easily understood.
I found it laborious reading at times, but the nature of this subject compelled me to continue, and I am glad I did. I can only congratulate Sharri Markson on her bravery and the bravery of all her sources for bringing the truth of this pandemic to the attention of the general public.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing

This is a fascinating account of what probably happened in Wuhan but lacks the balance of an academic treatise. The world is still stunned by the breadth and depth of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, Markson’s book shines a much needed light on the failure of Governments, National and international institutions and individuals. Underlining all this intrigue is the the Machiavellian, secretive nature of the CCP.
The book is heavy going, rich in detail and certainly worth a read.

All of us should be interested in knowing what has just happened to turn our world and lives upside down.
Many scientists, and our mass media all say it was a wild virus that somehow jumped to infect humans.
By thoroughly researching this subject, Ms Markson shows us that a leak from the BSL4 Wuhan Institute of Virology laboratory is a far more likely scenario.
She has thoroughly researched this outbreak and interviewed all the most knowledgeable people, a huge task in itself.
She has also exposed the USA political community for not being objective about China. The USA and Australia both have serious conflicts of interest for their participation in the biological scientific research that was conducted in that Wuhan Laboratory.
Everyone should read this treatise. People need to be informed.
Thank you Sharri Markson.

Well researched, well written and credible.
However, I would draw the author's attention to one factual error.
On page 54 of the Kindle edition it states that York is to the west of Manchester in the UK. This is not correct. In fact, York is to the north-EAST of Manchester. Can I suggest that it may be better to use London as a point of reference when correcting this in the next edition. I say this because, compared to Manchester, more of the readership will know where London is. By the way, York is some two hundred miles driving distance north of London.
