I have loved reading these books individually, so to have them in a boxed set is perfect.
This is an excellent, fast-paced series and I found myself getting quite emotionally attached to the characters throughout. After reading the Ixan legacy trilogy, it was great to see Vin Husher back in action.
If you’re looking for sci fi, these are a fantastic read.
This is another good read in the Husher character series of books by Scott Bartlett, this time joined by Joshua James. I appreciated reading the trilogy from beginning to end without the many months of waiting between books, so thanks to the authors for providing this anthology. Although it's been quite a while since I've read a book by the author, I was quickly able to renew my acquaintance with all the various characters. As a reader you'll either enjoy the parallel universes settings or not. I do. Highly recommended.
Hmmm it must be me but I find most scifi books just full of overwhelming odds and heroes overcoming unbelievable situations. Trapped in another universe/dimension with horde after horde of deadly aliens with no sense of preservation attacking a small fleet of Human crafts with limited resources and no way to repair and replenish? Far from captivating it just gets extremely tedious. I found myself skipping page after page which is a shame considering the effort put into its creation. Can we just make the battles a little less unbelievable? Please !
This was an okay book which I gave four stars to. It did not deserve five because it was not up to it. The Husher, Fesky and Jake trio have outlived their stories. The previous Husher stories were much better. If you want a good read but nothing spectacular this is the book for you.
In the main part, I enjoyed the series. It was fast paced, entertaining and I liked both the premise / universe and the key characters. But the storyline felt repetitive, especially in the space battles, which were very "here we go again again again".
A great little box set that delivers on value for money, plot, pace and decent set of characters. The science was not overly intrusive or complicated, so did not break the flow. I was pleasently surprised I finished as quickly as I did.
