I am absolutely thrilled with this beautiful addition to our musical storybook library! This book introduces the instrument families so creatively and integrates wonderful facts alongside a charming storyline. I also was so fond of the beautiful artwork and can't wait to share this gem with my music families too!
This lovely book is a wonderful introduction to the instruments of the orchestra for young learners. As a music educator, I have enjoyed using this book to introduce instrument families to my students. Each instrument has a distinct personality and uniqueness, perfect for kinder and first graders. I love having a digital copy to display on my interactive white board, and the students are captivated by the beautiful art work.
I thought this book was going to be about dynamics abs be a useful tool for my piano students… it’s not. What it does do is introduce the different musical families…. But there really isn’t much that would make it interesting or fun to children… it’s heavy on the words without being entertaining… not only that…. But piano is a percussion instrument…. So I’m not sure why it’s in its own category. What’s more is that there is no plot and the little plot there is is full is holes….
I love this book for introducing the different orchestral instrument families to elementary-aged students. The artwork is cute and engaging, with personified instruments that still look close enough to their real-life design that children will be able to recognize the real instrument when they see it. I liked that there is a quick description of the tone quality of some of the instruments. The book even includes a QR code to download cute coloring sheets
I bought this wonderful little book for my music-loving niece. It is an excellent introduction to the musical families for younger readers. A delightful read with beautiful illustrations, I highly recommend this addition to any young (or older) person’s personal library!
I thought this was a book about Dynamics in music. It’s more about the classes of instruments. It’s a really cute book but not one for musical dynamics. I did like how the violin learned to be happy with her sound and who she was.
AH! This book came along at the perfect time! This is what I'm doing with my students this week! This book is way better than some of the old standbys that I was planning to use to introduce the instruments of the orchestra! The illustrations are gorgeous and incredibly accurate for a teaching resource. Lots of love for this book!
